The Mil V-12 (also known as Mi-12) was the biggest chopper built. Nicknamed "Homer" by NATO, this helicopter was developed out of the need for a heavy-lift chopper that could carry missile modules. Equipped with a two-rotor transverse scheme, this helicopter did not have a tail rotor that's usually found in other heavy-lift choppers. The first prototype made a successful liftoff, but made a bumpy touchdown. Although the damage to the helicopter was minimal (concentrated mostly to the wheel disk and tire), the media reported that the prototype sustained fatal damage. This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!FeaturesDimension - 12 x 11.3 x 16 in.Item weight - 3 lbs.
