More popularly known for its NATO reporting name "Helix" the Ka-27 chopper was developed to serve the Soviet, Ukrainian, Russian, and Indian Navies. This workhorse made its first flight on December 1973 and was formally introduced sometime in 1982. Used mainly for anti-submarine warfare and for ferrying, this rotorcraft was produced to replace its predecessor, the Ka-25. Similar to other choppers produced by Kamov, the Helix was outfitted with a co-axial rotor, which eliminated the need for a tail rotor. Still in active service, the Ka-27 helicopter also serves Vietnam, Korea, and China. This handcrafted model is painted in the same paint scheme as the original and is painstakingly built from Philippine mahogany by our skilled craftsmen. Perfect as a gift for any aviation enthusiast and history buff!FeaturesDimension - 12 x 10.2 x 16 in.Item weight - 3 lbs.
