They stopped the water hammer at the wash machine that was going throughout the house. We needed the extra volume to compensate and eliminate the hammer effect. Well made. The piston works well and should last a long time. A good value for the money. It took numerous fittings to replace the old setup. Is there a preferred orientation?** A: It can be installed at any angle, but up is the preferred position, especially if it will be in a place subject to freezing, as that allows it to drain. Downward is the least preferred position as it could collect debris from the water system, which might hamper the action of the piston or cause it to leak. **Q: What adapters are needed to install on a washing machine? I have the mini arestors on the washer now and can't find a fitting to go into this??** A: I had already purchased 2 Sioux Chief 660-HB mini arrestors that come mounted on the necessary plumbing hardware. They didn't work so I purchased two 652-A water arrestors, removed the 660-HB arrestors from the mounts, purchased two 3/8" FLR x 1/2"FIP brass flare connectors from a local hardware store, then installed the 652-A arrestors to the flare connectors and then attached them both to the mounts from the 660-HB mini arrestors. Saves from having to purchased a multiple of different types of connectors to mount on the washing machine supply lines. **Q: What are the dimentions of this item?
