Shocked we've had this so long and it's still working! Have had some issues over time, but again, we've had these for a while!- the flame for one started going out pretty regularly. We contacted customer service and they fixed it and sent it back, no issue since then.- for them to work you HAVE TO TURN IT ON 10-15 Min before you'll be outside. It takes that long for the burner to heat up the pad and get going, and in the interim you will be miserable.- you also want to keep an eye on the butane levels. Seem to last about 8 hours of use for us, each- bummer there's no refillable solution, since the butane cartridges feel wasteful.Otherwise, I recommend these to anyone wondering about mosquito solutions. When you follow the step of putting them out fifteen minutes ahead of time, they work wonderfully, no additional repellant needed

The only thing I wish that was different, I wish they would last longer without changing the pad. This invention is amazing, have 4 and people keep borrowing them and not returning.

I bought this for a few different camping trips. My wife will not join me outside when camping to eat outside because of bugs and I am hoping this solves the problem for us. I also wanted to use it on our boundary waters trip. Our first timing using it it was very windy and as a result much less effective, but also with the wind the bugs are fewer and far between. For our trip to MN on our first site there were mosquitoes everywhere. Prior to breaking out the head nets we decided to give this a try to see how it would do. Since we were protected by trees and out of the breeze we fired it up. Within about 5 min there were very few mosquitoes left in our area. I am not sure if this is also supposed to help with black flies, but it was not as effective in this case.I have a few complaints about this.One is it very difficult to tell if it is lit or not. The directions say turn it on and press the ignite button 5 times. We did this but still had to wait to see if it would work.Second is that the butane outlasts the strips, but there is no indicator on the strip to know when you have run out of time. We resorted to setting a timer and either turning it off or changing the pad if we thought we needed another several hours.This appears to be a pretty good solution to get my wife to join me outside for dinner as long as we plan to use it for 3 hours or are willing to throw away half used items (Either you are burning butane or tossing a strip because there is no way to tell).

This is a must for hunters! I never leave the house without this thing when I'm going turkey hunting. I live out in florida where everything is wet and there are lots and lots of mosquitos everywhere. When there is a lot of brush and not a lot of wind, the mosquitos love to hang out in those area, which also happen to be good area to hide and wait for turkey. My wife and I sit close to each other and use just one of these Thermacells. It seems to do a pretty good job. The mosquitos don't seems to bother use when this thing is on and other bugs seems to keep there distance as well. Sometimes you can smell is or see a little bit of a mist come of the device, but as long as your outside I don't thing its anything to worry about.The termacell is pretty easy to turn on and each strip last for a while. Id say one strip will last about half of day of continuous use, which is a lot... and one butane tank will last you about 3 strips, than you'll have to buy a little refill set. You can tell when the strip is done because it will turn white. And you can tell when the butane take is done because you won't be able to see a little flam in the indicator port on the top.Sadly this termacell does not come with the case for it.... so you have to buy that separately. Its cost around $15 on amazon but its worth it for hunters and general traveling around with this thing.Im sue this thing is also great for backyard parties or just hanging out outside in the evening time. The device is not loud at all and can be forgotten so keep an eye on the strip to make sure its still blueish.

We've been having a lot of mosquito issues here in Texas since the wave of storms in May. The mosquito problem is awful right now, with many different species and a huge number of them. I've been trying out numerous types of control, from oils, sprays, incense, coils and Thermacell.Out of all the different products, this is the one I was most excited about, especially after reading all of the positive reviews. Not only would I be able to use this in the yard, but I intended to take it with me backpacking and camping too.First TestThe device itself is packaged nicely, and comes with the butane bottle and 3 pads. The first time I tried it, the wind was blowing moderately, as it does in this part of the world. We literally set the device right next to us, upwind so it would blow the vapor our way. I could visually tell that it was on, as there was a faint orange light, and the wispy vapor emanating from the device confirmed it.However, it did nothing to repel the mosquitos who wanted to feast on us. They were still bold and coming right up to us. I gave up and sprayed myself with Insect Shield oil spray, and that kept them at bay. Perhaps the wind was reducing the effectiveness?Second TestSo, I waited until we had a calm day, and headed out again with Thermacell. Once again, I placed it right next to me, upwind. Again, the device seemed to provide no protection at all from hungry mosquitos. They were still flying all around me, and trying to land. This time, I lit some citronella incense and they immediately flew away. So, now it's not looking so great for Thermacell.Pad LongevityI went ahead and left the pad burning to see how long it would last. The first time I used it for 1 hour, and this time, I let the clock run. Well, I was dismayed to see the pad turned white within the 3 hour total mark, which is less than the advertised 4 hour total. Overall, this made for a disappointing experience with this device, and as much as I wanted it to work, it just didn't for me. Not keeping, and can not recommend this item.

Wirkt gegen so ziemlich jedes Insekt was fliegt. Kurz nach dem einschalten halten sich die Plagegeister fern.

Ich habe dieses Produkt vor 1 Jahr zu Weihnachten bekommen. Seitdem habe ich es sowohl in meinem eigenen Garten sehr oft verwendet als auch bei Bekannten. Es ist einfach ganz wunderbar! Unser Pavillon ist inmitten von Hecke und Büschen, die Biester sind dort einfach zu Hause. Wenn ich nun den TC auf den Tisch lege ist nach 10 Minuten Ruhe. Dieser Effekt ist einfach krass. Auch bei einer Geburtstagsfeier auf der Terrasse im Garten von Bekannten saßen ca. 10 Leute drum herum. Das Gerät wurde mit Pause (während Sparziergang) betrieben. Diejenigen die sitzen geblieben waren, wurden in der Zeit aufgefressen. Danach wieder eingeschaltet wurde es wieder erträglich.Es gibt einige die rezensierten, dass es bei ihnen nicht funktioniere. Ich kann das nicht verstehen. U.u war bei denen wirklich eine enorme Briese zu verzeichnen. Das steht eben auch in der Bedienungsanleitung. Wind kann die Wirkung sofort reduzieren, ist doch klar, der Dampf verflüchtigt sich so schneller. Man muss das einfach so sehen: Dieses Gerät funktioniert auf jeden Fall überhaupt nicht schlechter als andere mir bekannte Methoden/Sprays auf jeden Fall aber in vielen Situationen sehr viel besser. Und hier klebt nichts am Körper, man stinkt nicht, etc. Wir haben das beim Grillen auf dem Tisch, alles kein Problem. Kauft dieses Gerät, ich bin ein Fan davon geworden, es hat mir Freiheit in meinem Garten zurückgebracht!

ich habe das gerät bei einem befreundeten karpfen angler gesehen und konnte mich im vorraus von seiner wirkung überzeugen.zur zeit herscht bei uns in der gegend begünstigt durch hochwasser und überschwemmte wälder eine richtige schnakenplage.also mit so einem teil hat man echt ruhe im garten oder beim angeln , es kommen einem nur ganz wenige schnacken näher 100% schutz gibt es nicht aber als ich es bei meinem kolegen getestet hab war es schon sehr überzeugend , ohne gerät bestimmt in 10 minuten 15-20 siche an den armen ( hatte gott sei dank lange hosen an *g*) dann holte mein angelfreund das teil raus plätchen rein und knöpfchen gedrückt und paar secunden später war echt im umkreis wo wir sitzen ruhe von den biestern nur ab und an hat sich mal eine verflogen *g* einzig wenn stärkerer wind geht denke ich das die wirkung nicht ganz so gut ist ,aber sicher immer noch besser als garnix. also ich hab mir noch am selben abend noch so ein teil bestellt . hab amazon ,ebay usw durchsucht und bestellt.

Prinzipiell wirkt das Gerät bzw. der Wirkstoff.Man muss allerdings eine gewisse Zeit abwarten, bis der Wirkstoff sich entfaltet.Leider ist der Wirkstoff und auch die Kartusche schnell entleert.Das Gerät lief noch und wir bemerkten es nicht - war nicht wirklich sichtbar - Ergebnis: Entleeert.In Gebäuden/Zimmern oder Zelten würde ich das Gerät nicht verwenden, ob der Wirkstoff dort "Nebenwirkungen" hat ist anzunehmen, dem gehen wir aus dem Weg.Überhaupt, verwenden wir es nur im Freien und dort nur selten, bei extremen Mückenplagen!

Ich wollte es auch nicht glauben das dieses Gerät das wunder gegen Mücken sein soll.Da ich aber bereit bin alles zu versuchen weil ich so ein Mückenmagnet bin mußte also auch dieses Gerät her.Und was soll ich sagen...Unglaublich, ich bin wirklich begeistert. Wir haben alleine durch unseren Gartenteich schon die ein oder andere Mücke mehr im Garten und abends wenn wir gemütlich draußen sitzen wollen kommen sie alle von überall her.Dank Thermacell ist dies nun vorbei. Wobei ich sagen mus das Gerät wirkt, ABER wie auch beschrieben tatsächlich erst nach 15 min.So lange braucht das Gerät wohl um warm zu werden und den Duft zu verteilen.Nie mehr ohne. Für Zuhause haben wir die Lampe und für Unterwegs die handliche Version.
