By Shel Silverstein - The Giving Tree (3/16/03)

The cover of the book was a little disappointing. There were many dents in it and there was a spot on the cover that was very discolored from where the price sticker must’ve been.

I loved this book!

I like that no matter what happens to the boy & the tree, the tree always had something the boy/man needed.

This book is used which is fine. I knew that going in. But what really makes me mad is that I paid WAYYY too much and then see a price sticker on the back from a well known thrift store for $1.99! REALLLY?!!

So much of his writing is so brilliant. This book, on the other hand, is toxic. That said, I gave it 2 stars instead of one because Topher Payne's alternate ending redeems the book to some extent, if only because it created the opportunity for Topher to fix it.

I just bought this on Kindle and it is some teaching resource book. It does not contain the story of the giving tree.
