I watch a lot of videos for this artist and was hoping for some more of his signature work in this book. It is hard for me to get internet in my art studio and therefore hard to watch videos and I was hoping this book could fill in some. It is well rendered and there is good information, it just isn't what I needed to get me going on Gouache again. Bit of a bummer as it was very expensive.

Simple, easy drawings which will be great for me to follow. Color choices are excellent. I will enjoy using this book as a reference for painting even though gouache isn't preferred medium.

I love the attention to detail, the steps are clear to follow, and so many options!!Great for any level; easy enough for beginners to follow, and gives moderate and advanced artists new tips and tricks.

Having next to no knowledge of botanical illustration, I appreciated his step-by-step guide with steps on the highlights and shadows. I found that a lot of how-to books skip over that part so it was immensely helpful to me that he didn't. The book was very easy to follow and he provides you with great background information on all the materials you'll need to start. I found the book to be very fun and I can't wait to show it to my nephew when he's a bit older. Worth every penny and I think it would make a wonderful gift to artists of all levels!

I just had to have this book after following Boelter Design Co for years! He makes painting and drawing flowers look so easy and his art work is truly incredible. I finally was able to try for myself and it was a blast and a nice distraction from every day stress. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for inspiration to paint and draw!

I love it! I got this book a few days ago on the mail and let me tell you it is a great book with very clear step-by-step also at the beginning some usefulness info about the materials. I always really liked his work, so I’m very happy to get to learn his way on painting those beautiful flowers he does!

Die Motive im Buch sind soweit in Ordnung. Nichts, das man nicht schon einmal gesehen hat. Und natürlich Geschmackssache. Der Autor bricht die einzelnen Schritte detailiert herunter, sodass man gut folgen kann.Die Qualität des Buchs, das bedeutet, die Qualität des Drucks und Papiers, die Schärfe der Bilder und die Scanns der Abbildungen ist sehr, sehr mäßig.Für knapp 28 Euro fühlt sich das Buch mit 120 Seiten wie ein billiges Ausmalbuch vom Krabbeltisch an. Das Papier fühlt sich wie 80 g/m2 Druckerpapier an und sieht auch so aus. Von einer Oberflächenveredelung (Satierung) fehlt jede Spur. Die gedruckten Bilder sehen leicht ausgefranst aus, was mit der Oberflächenstruktur des Papiers zusammenhängt. Die Schrift ist mit sauberen Kanten gedruckt.Die Fotos (u.a von Pinseln) und Scanns der einzelnen Schritte sind unscharf sowie teilweise schlecht im Bildbearbeitungsprogramm ausgeschnitten, da man einen grauen Pixelschleier erkennt.Die Farben im Buch, mit Ausnahme des Covers, wirken sehr matt bzw. gedeckt, ohne Leuchtkraft. Das hat nichts mit dem Farbmittel Gouache als solches zu tun, das charakteristisch matt ist, sondern mit der Bild- und Druck-/Papierqualität. Keine der Abbildungen erreicht auch nur ansatzweise die Ausdrucksstärke der Bilder, die man aus den sozialen Medien des Künstlers kennt.Wenn ich es richtig gesehen habe, ist das Buch in Eigenauflage ohne Verlagsunterstützung entstanden.Fazit: Wer das Buch als Gouache-Einsteiger für unter 10 Euro findet, kann zugreifen. Für den Rest ist es überteuert und reflektiert zu keinem Zeitpunkt den charakteristischen Stil des Künstlers. Die handwerkliche Qualität des Buchs kann jeder mit handelsüblichem Druckerpapier am heimischen Drucker nachbilden.//The motifs in the book are okay so far. Nothing you haven't seen before. And of course it's a matter of taste. The author breaks down the individual steps in detail so that it is easy to follow.The quality of the book, that is, the quality of the printing and paper, the sharpness of the pictures and the scans of the illustrations is very, very mediocre.For just under 28 euros, the 120-page book feels like a cheap colouring book from the crawlspace. The paper feels and looks like 80 g/m2 printer paper. There is no trace of a surface finish (satin finish). The printed pictures look slightly frayed, which is related to the surface texture of the paper. The writing is printed with clean edges.The photos (of brushes, among others) and scans of the individual steps are blurred as well as partly badly cropped in the image editing programme, as one can see a grey pixel haze.The colours in the book, with the exception of the cover, appear very dull or muted, without luminosity. This has nothing to do with the colour medium gouache as such, which is characteristically dull, but with the image and print/paper quality. None of the illustrations even comes close to the expressiveness of the images known from the artist's social media.If I have seen it correctly, the book was self-published without the support of a publisher.Conclusion: If you are a gouache beginner and can find the book for less than 10 euros, you can buy it. For the rest, it is overpriced and at no time reflects the artist's characteristic style. The craftsmanship of the book can be reproduced by anyone with standard printer paper on their home printer.
