Vastly better than most cheap tap-holders
This is nicely engineered and works well. It is a vast improvement over the awful, cheap holders that are included with most budget tap sets. In comparison to the 'normal' cheap ones, it is a pleasure to use and excellent value for money.

OK at a push.
This tap wrench is suitable for light weight DIY/emergency small gauge thread cutting. It's not really an industrial tool as I don't consider it's quality or durability is up to repetitive or constant use. It's OK for cutting threads in aluminium and probably light/ thin sections of mild steel. It's difficult to get a very firm grip on the locking thread and consequently taps tend to work loose or rotate in the clamping jaws and drop out and/or get stuck in the material. I used it to recut 10 threads in sheet aluminium with little trouble, but I think this is probably the limit of its usefulness due to the problems noted above. Solidly manufactured for occasional use.

Good quality
I bought this to replace a rather poor one that came in a set. This is much much better quality.

Made easy work of cast iron
Used this combined with a thread tap bit to repaired our old radiator by widening the valve hole and replacing the valve! Made easy work of the cast iron. Make sure to tighten the bit well and go slowly and carefully.

Not very strong, but good enough at a pinch
I bought this to use with a thread chaser. It's good enough at a pinch, but the jaws are very soft, and there's quite a bit of play. Next time I'll spend a little more and go for a better quality alternative.

Cheap for a reason. Still it’s not worth it
Quality equal to price. Poor fit for all taps

Better than what you get in a kit
It's not an expensive tool but better than the crap you get in a tap and die set. And it works in tighter spaces
