What took me so long to buy one of these?!
This is the first spear pole I've ever had that wasn't a stick that I sharpened. I love this thing. First time using it me and my 14yo stuck a couple of carp each. Glad I got the longer one because of the extra reach it gives. Had a hard time deciding on material but I'm glad I went with the carbon. It's got good weight and is tough. I think i would bend an aluminum one. Time will tell how long the band lasts as it seems to be under a lot of stress. I'm ordering one as a back up.

great pole for the money, needs a grip!
The one piece carbon fiber pole spear is the way to go. I would not advise buying the sectional pole spears by scuba choice because I have heard stories about them having poor structural integrity. But the one piece pole spear is a solid choice which you can't go wrong with. My only complaint is that there is absolutely no grip to it. The carbon fiber pole shaft is very slippery, so I ended up having to make my own grip for it out of self adhesive rubber wrap and 550 cord. After that, I was extremely happy with it. The metal parts don't feel like the best quality, but will suffice just fine for begginners. I don't expect this thing to last forever, but hopefully I get a good couple years of use out of it. For the price you can't beat it. I'm happy with my purchase.

Excellent quality, just missing the tip!
I ordered two of these and one came with the paralyzed tip one did not. They were both supposed to have the tip included. Product is excellent on the one that has all the parts. Single star for missing parts.

Had a small issue - resolved spectacularly by company (Scuba Choice)
I received my order ( 7 foot single piece carbon fiber Hawaiian sling spear with 3-prong barb) on time as promised by Amazon. When I opened the box, I noticed that the that the spear tip was missing. The box was completely intact and not damaged at all in shipping, so the tip didn't fall out during transport - the company selling it had to have forgotten to send the tip with the spear. I emailed scuba choice and told them what happened and rather than get the typical delayed response, followed by the skepticism (i.e., sure you didn't get the tip...sure...), followed by the run around, followed by hassle after hassle, which is so typical of bad companies these days, Scuba Choice immediately (1 day response) without any hassle emailed me, apologized and sent me out the missing tip. It arrived a few days later. Now for the spear - it works great, and I've already nabbed several fish. It's far better than fiberglass as I don't use gloves. The fiberglass slings start to leave small painful shards in your hands after several uses. Carbon fiber doesn't seem to do that. I highly recommend the product, and this is definitely a reputable company.

Strong and holds up to anything in realistic terms.
What a spear, this is my first one and I can't say enough about the product. Shoots great and hold up when shooting into rocks. I bought a extra band and flopper tip for mine for less than a $100.

Was great, for about a month
Purchased this 3-prong in late June and have used it about 8-10 times (tomorrow is Aug 1). After my last dive I noticed that the shaft was leaking water when I got out because of a fracture down by the tip and the sling is already falling apart. I am guessing that when I am out with it tomorrow the sling will snap since the larger of the many slits is almost halfway through the hose.I was loving this 3-prong but find it unfortunate that I have to buy another sling already and that I am relying on a Gorilla Glue patch to prevent the shaft from further splitting. hope I still get some good years out of this pole, but not looking promising.

Good value for the money
These are hard to bear for the money. Much less flex or bend than the yellow fiberglass poles. Keep in mind that these are still budget Spears but anything much nicer is going to cost you at least 2-3 times more. I used some rubber o rings and heat shrink to add a grip on mine. With a thread adapter I also added jbl slip tip. This is by no means a high end spear but in my opinion it is a great value for the money.
