A multipurpose helper
I’ve gotten ‘third hand’ devices for sewing in the past so I knew when soldering became a new curiosity, the same concept would really come in handy for it. This thing is more like a third/fourth/fifth/sixth hand though.Very easy to assemble, comes in a pretty small box, nestled in foam cutouts. The steel base is a nice heavy weight, definitely not going to get pushed around easily. The rubber feet are balanced so there’s no wobble. The arms are strong but not difficult to bend like some tablet holders I’ve used in the past. I love the tightening nuts that attach to the alligator clips; you can use these to loosen the clip, swivel it to the right angle then tighten it so it won’t budge once more. Very handy. The clips are very strong and the teeth will hurt so definitely use the black rubber caps to protect skin and circuit boards better. It’s absolutely terrific for soldering but it also works great for clamping and glueing with other sorts of DIY projects and crafts on a small scale. I don’t solder a whole lot so it’s good to know I can use it for many other tasks. For the price and soldering, it’s likely all you’ll ever need unless you have much heavier/larger or really micro projects. For most other tasks, this is perfect.

Quality part at a good price point.
Really good quality product. Solid platform. Clips are threaded and very stable when hand tightened. Great helping hand for ckt board repair.

The light in the magnifying glass that has low or high mode for brightness is the coolest feature!
Very Sturdy..Heavy so it wont move around on rubber feet so it will not slide either. This was nice to find out. Also has a very cool LED light in the magnifying glass that of course I use mostly on high. Also the rubber boots that go over the alligator clips to prevent any item you are grabbing..usually tiny electrical wires from getting the insulation damaged work nice and do not slip. USE LOCTITE on assembly to keep the flexible arms from coming loose. This works very well and definitely helps with my soldering in tiny Decoders with Sound into my N Scale Locomotives. The arms bend pretty flexible but still tend to bend back a little instead of folding and holding position to bend all the way to table level so i put the train on a 4 inch box as a stand to have it high enough to work with. As for electrical wire to wire soldering works very well but takes a couple repeated tweaks to get the arms to stay where you want them to solder the two ends together on a wire. Otherwise very useful as another set of fingers to hold what you are working on in place. Definitely sturdy and well made including the heavy solid feeling alligator clips. Instructions are legible..could be better so over all a 4 star which could be a 5 if a little more useful stay where you bend the arms are. Maybe it will even break in over time then should be a 5 star. Also nice that the Manufacture gives you some extra rubber boots for the Alligator clips and a couple extra parts with this well made stand. Definitely worth its money...

I Never Knew I Needed This
I’m kinda new to soldering, and even though I’d purchased a smaller “helping hands” (the short one, with a magnifying glass and the short arms), I never really thought that THIS is the helping hands tool that I REALLY needed!I’ve used it only once and it is SO much better than the smaller one I have. The flexible arms make positioning SO much more convenient and efficient. On my other helping hands, I’m constantly having to find a good angle and position to hold whatever it is that I’m working on, but this tool is brilliant! I’m never going back to my other one after using this. It’s got a great weight to it, which helps keep it stable (my other one is constantly falling over and needs to be carefully balanced - no issues with that for this device). I also love that it comes with rubber clamp covers and an extra pair of clamps. It also has two extra holes on the plate, which I assume is for you to add extra arms, a light, or a magnifying glass. On that note, I do regret not buying the version with the magnifying glass on it, but that was entirely my shortsightedness.Good price? YesWell built? Very much soGreat value? AbsolutelyDo I recommend? 💯Tips for anyone new to this: buy this instead of the small helping hands. You won’t regret it!

Works better than I expected
This works great. I have been using the terrible little stand with clips for years. I was concerned about how high the clips sat on the flex arms, but bending them down actually allowed a lower working position and the clips were holding from the top and totally out of the way. I wish I had bought this years ago. Recommend.

Soldering helping hands
This product is good for holding work pieces steady and secure while soldering. It’s has a very steady base and the four bolt on arms are tight and a good length for holding work pieces higher or lower. You can also get magnetic arms that will stick to the base. Base has a very nice paint job on it for years of worry free use. I recommend this product.
