These lift supports were really easy to install and fit perfectly to my 2016 4Runner. At first sight the rods look about 1/2" too long, but it is because the old ones are no longer fully extending. When you put the new supports in, it is important to lift the tail gate pretty close to it's maximum extension (beyond the actual position with the old supports), so it is good to have a helper to lift until the point where upper cylinder head attaches. Also, important to notice that the old clips in the cylinder heads spring out sometimes really surprisingly when you are prying them out with a screwdriver, and it is good to have some eye protection as stated in the instruction! The installation is really easy for someone without any mechanic skills, and it took about 10 minutes. The old supports come out really easily once the clips have been removed. With the new supports the tail gate even lifts few inches higher than with the old ones. A really nice saving doing this by yourself!!

These lift supports are great. I wish I would have known sooner the fix was this cheap and easy.

This worked great for my 2016 4Runner. It took maybe five minutes to watch the installation guide video (using the link provided in the written instructions that came with the supports), and then maybe ten minutes to actually do the install. The only tools I needed were a ladder and a flathead screwdriver. Very simple, and the hatch is now higher than I remembered it could go.

These struts have failed not more that 2-3 months after installation. I have a ladder on the 4runner. Frustrating.

These have held up well thus far. They seem to be just as strong as the original OEM version. I put them on a 2011 4Runner Limited. I typically only use Toyota OEM parts but given the high cost, I decided to try these. You could go thru three sets for the cost of one OEM set. Easy to install.

I purchased these after hearing great things about Lift Supply Depot products. These are fantastic stock replacement parts. They work great and lift the tailgate automatically without issue. They also hold the tailgate higher than my previous stock struts. Very happy with these.
