Captain Marvel Vol. 3: Alis Volat Propriis (Captain Marvel (2014-2015))

I love Captain Marvel and have every one of the collected volumes, but this book had very little in the way of the Captain's story.As others have pointed out, it inserts a chapter from the black vortex story, but as I don't have the money to follow every single marvel comic, I had no context for this, and no way to follow the story to its conclusion. This means that a good chunk of the book is a small snapshot of a bigger story, and is therefore really unfulfilling from a storytelling perspective.The cynic in me thinks that this is just Marvel's attempt to get readers to branch out into different comics, to increase sales. For me, it had the opposite reaction and just left me feeling disappointed and discouraged from buying more in the future.

I love Captain Marvel, and recommend getting this for anyone undecided. However there isn't a storyline in this volume to follow, not much of one at least. It had an issue of the Black Vortex which I'd like to read to see how Carol's part plays out, but it seems unnecessary to include as part of this volume and I felt like it took something away from the book.

I came close to crying at the end. Very moving stuff. It is well written and the art is great. The stories in this series have been very clearly told.

Beautifully drawn and scripted. "Captain Marvel" is my new favourite superhero - such wit and humanity.

Yet another comic that imo is ruined by hamfisting black vortex into it.Beginning of the comic is great and carries on the space bros story with Tig middle throws the pacong out and goes back to black vortex which then leaves almost no room fo the end which imo should have been the main focus of the whole book. This is the first Capmarvel book that ive been disappointed in :(

Not too fussed that black vortex volume is included (though I don't see why it is tbf) tho Mary sue cap marvel is treated like she can do no wrong. This is the final volume I have of this series ( having bought all 5 in this series so far). I've been so annoyed and disappointed with how they written this character , I'M OUT. I will not be buying any more captain marvel books.
