5 Suspenseful&Sexy Stars
Oh.My.God! Where do I begin? Anti Hero was so intense from the very beginning! The suspenseful scenes kept my heart pounding fast, my palms sweaty, it kept me at the edge of my seat and it kept me up all night as I try to finish this book in one sitting! And I tell you...IT WAS ALL WORTH IT! It is a hard-to-put-down kind of book! This book is well written and it exceeded my expectation. If you like Suspense-Romance kind of book, you will LOVE Anti Hero. Skye Warren nailed it again! She always does. Her books are amazing and it delivers every time.Let's talk about Nate and Sofia. Dear God! Nate and Sofia fit each other perfectly and their chemistry is a ball of fire! I love how Nate risked everything in his power to make sure his girl is saved, safe and at the end of the day, they're back in each other's arms. This hero will surely melt your hearts out and your panties damped! This book is hot and sexy. This book is my first ARC from Skye Warren, thank you... in exchange for an honest review.

Nate is a textbook hero and protector
3.5* (round up to 4)If you like a suspense story, then this is definitely a great read. There's tension and you feel the adrenaline pumping action jumping off the page. While I loved the suspense element of the story, I didn't feel there was balance with the romantic element here. I wanted more. The charactersSophia was a typical reporter Type A personality with a priority for grabbing that story. She's investigating a politician (Moreland) and is uncovering a wealth of info he's trying to keep buried. Sophia's investigation becomes a problem and she must be eliminated. In steps Nate. The ex-boyfriend who never really opened up when they were together. Sophia, wanting more, opted to walk away when Nate couldn't give her more.I loved Nate. He is your traditional alpha, ex-Special Forces but still working 'off-the-book' missions. He's got a lot of ghosts who linger and drive many of his decisions. He hates being called a "hero" because he failed to save/warn his team during a mission - but he is, without question, a hero. His protectiveness is coded into his DNA and it's the reason he senses something is off when Sophia calls him out of the blue in the midst of her panic.**possible spoilers**The relationship...I guess, as a reader, I was expected to accept things. But I, as a reader, like to experience and feel them. I didn't get that here. I sensed the attraction between them, he still loves her and vice versa. They were both driven. The drive of each of them to do their job is what fueled the attraction - YET - it's the same thing that tore them apart back then? I didn't get that. It seemed neither one really changed at all, so, um, why did they split? And now that they're back together, it's as if that time completely evaporated? I don't mind "reconnecting" stories. I think they're great and enjoy reading about second chances. But there needs to be a reason. A reason for the break up and a reason (or change or growth) for the re-connection. For me, there wasn't. So, in my mind, it's as if the adrenaline pumping situation triggered their re-connection.Backstories...I wanted a little more backstory on Nate. Yes, we get one flashback. But I wanted more. It did, however, give me insight to him and his thinking (I guess that's why I wanted to read more).Sophia - I didn't understand the reasoning for introducing her backstory. It was tough what she experienced, but I didn't see the relevance AT ALL to the development of this storyline. Zero relevance. Yes, she's alone. Yes, she lost a brother. Yes, the circumstances were horrible. But - it didn't translate into defining her as a person, it didn't color her decisions, it wasn't the reason for her separation from Nate, and it wasn't the motivation for her pursuing her investigation. While there did seem to be some possible link to the situation toward the end (involvement of women in the investigation) it was a 'surprise' to her, so it was not the driving force on her part. She was simply following a story she knew would be a big one and it developed into more. The writing style...The short sentence structure in parts created the appropriate tension and urgency in parts and the writing flowed well, but the extreme use of similes was a bit distracting for me.Formatting (this didn't affect my review but I wanted to mention it)I never really comment on the formatting of books in my reviews. But I was peeved to not have a working TOC that would have given me a bit of notice that the book was ending at the 43% mark. I knew there was a "bonus" book included, but I couldn't check and hated not knowing at what point the story I had purchased would actually end.For the most part, I did like the story. It had tension and suspense, but I wanted more of the romance. Extending it a little more to show the post adrenaline situation and them working as a couple might have been enough for me.While the story was a complete novel with a tiny fast-forward period of time into their relationship, having spend so much time with the suspense element, I would have really enjoyed being with them, as a couple, a little longer. Or including more of their backstory when they were a couple before to show some growth/change might have worked as well. When they were together, the chemistry was tangible and the sizzle in the air sparked my ereader. So this could simply be a case of me wanting to have had more of *them* rather than all the other stuff going on in the story.

Okay read! Hot Sexy Alpha
This was just an okay read. It started interesting enough. The female lead was hard for me to like 100%. Sophia is a journalist looking into a story that could be career making. But the road to the truth turns life threatening when those deep in the story bomb her work office in an attempt to quiet her. Her only hope at survival and revealing the truth comes from ex, Nate, who is ex-military and a PI. I found Sophia’s character very selfish and childish and she didn’t consider others when making decisions. It made it hard for me to really like her. Nate on the other hand was a man that always kept his distance, but there was something about Sophia that he never could shake. When he senses she’s in danger he goes to great lengths to protect her, even if it means risking his own life.I wish there was a bit more character background and character building. The sex scenes where hot and there was chemistry between Sophia and Nate. I also liked the comedic break addition to the book Nate’s friend/comrade. This book has danger, a hot military man, steamy chemistry, mystery. It was an okay read. I will give the author another try.

Great story
Nate and Sofia are such great characters. They both have rough pasts that they have to overcome to be together. I didn't like how wishy washy Sofia is when it comes to being with Nate -- he's a gem, she needed to just get over herself and trust him -- but in the end, things work out.The story is mainly from dual POV with the occasional supporting character POV for input. No cliffhanger.Action-packed, steamy, enjoyable read. Loved Nate!

Who needs a hero? I need an Anti-Hero!
5 I'm holding out for an Anti-Hero STARS!!!Wow, this book packs a punch! Sofia is a journalist in Austin Texas who is investigating the story of a lifetime. She realizes she might be in too deep when the building she works in is bombed. Feeling shaky she calls the only man who has ever made her feel safe, Nate Gaines. When Nate hears Sofia's voice on the phone after months of silence, he knows she is in trouble. And thank goodness he listens to his gut, he arrives just in time to save Sofia. Sofia and Nate both have scars from the past that have kept them apart. Thrust into a dangerous situation together, Sofia and Nate might have realized too late what they really mean to each other!Whew! What a thrill ride! This book is packed full of danger, intrigue, angst and blazing hot chemistry. Nobody does the tortured and flawed hero quite like Skye Warren. There is always an urgency to her writing that leaves me on the edge of my seat and when I reach the end I can't wait to see what she writes next! ONE click this book! You will not be disappointed.

WOW Anti Hero 5 stars
Another brilliant read by Skye Warren. If you've read any of her other books then you know this one won't disappoint. Saying that this book is not dark, like her other books, which is why I was intrigued to read it.This book contains an ex military inked hero and a determined reporter who will do anything to uncover the truth in order to tell the story. This is mainly duel POV (I love to read both sides) with a few smaller characters POV’s to add to the depth of the story. The book is about Sofia and Nathaniel (Nate). Sofia had a tough childhood and is all grown up and working as a newspaper reporter. While investigating a story Sofia uncovers corruption which puts her in danger. This puts her back in touch with her ex, Nate, who she still has feelings for. Cue the big tattooed hero, who doesn't think he's a hero, that would do anything to protect his girl. The problem lies in that how does Nate protect Sofia when she doesn't think she needs protecting and is determined to get to the bottom of the story.(I received an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion and can honestly say I loved reading Anti Hero which was thrilling, sexy, dangerous and sweet)

so the romance starts back up pretty quickly, but the author does give you insight ...
While this is a fairly quick read as there is actually two novels in this, it has both romance and mystery. I have only read the first story so far (Anti Hero). You come into the story with the characters already having a past history, so the romance starts back up pretty quickly, but the author does give you insight going along as to the past of both characters to put them into the now. It was very well done. This story does touch on some sensitive subjects.

OK!
First of all, this is the first book I've read by this author. The only criticism I have, is how this is two books and you don't know that when you download it. (Well I didn't) So, when I got to 43% I thought there was a whole lot more to the story and it ended. So that is the only negative thing I can say.The book I read was good as a whole. I enjoyed the story. It had me hooked from page one. The story was intriguing. Sophia and Nate were separated until her life is threatened. He saves her life on more than one occasion throughout their story. It has lots of action and twists and turns. I wanted more at the end. I wanted to know more of what happened to them.It was a good story, but it only goods to 43% and switches to a new book.I'll read more by the author but I'll make sure it isn't two books in one in future.
