Not as soft as I hoped but that is a plus for longer beards
I have a short beard, maybe an inch to inch-and-a-half on average, and wanted a brush to use while grooming it, smoothen it out during day, and to brush through conditioner. I was a little concerned about getting too stiff of a brush as it would be uncomfortable on my short beard/skin. Unfortunately, this brush is stiffer than I hoped and is a little uncomfortable against the skin. Will it "break in" and get softer over time? I hope so. Since I have very short hair - 1 guard fade on the sides - I am using it to "brush"/massage my scalp as well as brush my beard. It feels great on my scalp and I am hoping the extra usage will help soften the tips of the hairs so it is more comfortable on my face/beard over time. That said, I still feel it is an outstanding brush and reasonably priced for the quality. If you have a longer beard, this brush would be fantastic as the hairs are stiff enough to do an great job and it feels good in the hand. If you have a short hairdo then this would also be a great brush to stimulate the follicles or smooth through any product.I will post an update if I feel the bristles soften over time. Finally found a winner...
Up until recently, I had never grown facial hair long enough to consider a brush and beard oil. I quickly found a favorite beard oil, but could not seem to find a brush that quite felt right to me. I used a Kent comb, a Canyouhandlebar Beard Brush, Zeus beard brush, a Rugged Chuck wooden comb, and a sandalwood comb. They all have their merits;Kent Comb- decent at shaping beard, but doesnt spread oil well. Not ideal for beard, great for hair.Candyouhandlebar brush- Horse hair bristles are extremely soft. great brush for shorter length beards. Doesn't penetrate or shape longer beards very wellZeus beard brush - Brush was much smaller than expected. Bristles are a bit too stiff, but OK. I use it for travel.Rugged Chuck wooden comb- This beard comb seems ideal for people with very big beards. Not quite right for me.Sandalwood comb - I snagged a few too many hairs with this comb. Probably better for shorter length beards.A comb may be useful at times, but you need a brush. I like this brush because the bristles are a perfect balance between stiff and soft and it is a nice size. This brush spreads oil better than any other brush I tried. Overall, the brush feels good in the hand, but I would maybe like to try a version with a handle. I have been using the brush for months and have barely lost a bristle. I use this brush with Leven Rose Beard Oil.

Is it a Classic?
This is my third boar bristle brush on my quest to find one to my liking. I actually bought this to use for my head and not a beard (maybe someday). This is a well constructed, very nice looking brush. My other boar bristle brushes have handles and sometimes I find myself gripping the brush head instead of the handle, so it is nice that this one in particular, fits perfectly in my hand sans handle. It is very easy on the hair, it is quite comfortable, and is on the soft side for boar bristle brushes which is why I give it four stars. My other two brushes (with handles) have stiffer bristles, which provides better stimulation to my scalp and a more thorough brushing. This one works just as well, but takes a little more effort for the same effect. So, when it comes to a beard, I think stiffer bristles may work more efficiently at coarse facial hair. If you want a 100% boar bristle brush on the soft side, I would definitely go with this. I will continue using this along with my other brushes. So far I am quite pleased with it.

YAY, BRUSH!!! BOO, ALLERGIES!!! [SEE UPDATE!]
This is a very nice brush. Sturdy and well made. It still loses a bristle or two when I use it, but I think it's still reasonable to expect that. My only issue is that it made me cough and sneeze after I first used it. I am a little sensitive in that regard, so I definitely don't hold that against the product. I washed it a few times with mild dish soap, thinking that it would dissolve any oils and rinse out any dander(?) left in the boar hairs. That definitely helped. I've used it cautiously since, and I get a little tickle in my throat, but nothing like that first use. I considered a synthetic bristle brush, but I decided I've spent too much money on this brush just to stop using it. If you have no allergy issues, go for it, it's a great product.1/22/16 UPDATE - I've been using it every day since Mid-November with no issues. Whatever reaction I was having last year is long gone this year. The bristles are secure and durable, and the handle shows zero signs of wear. This is a high-quality product. Highly recommended! Upgrading from 4 stars to 5 stars! WOOOOO!

Exceptional For Grooming Your Goatee - Perfect Brush At A Very Reasonable Price
This brush is phenomenal. The firm bristles whisk away dead skin under the beard and stimulate the skin. The small size of the brush makes reaching edges of my beard and mustache near my nose and lips easy. The result is a clean, brushed beard that looks great. This is especially good after trimming my beard to get all of the left over cut hair out of my beard so it doesn't end up on my clothes later. It is great for a shorter beard, I trim my goatee to about a 2-3 on the trimmer and the brush is just right. I've used other brushes that are too stiff and the result is painful and left my skin red and irritated, not the case at all with this brush. The cloth bag is very convenient for storage and especially travel in a dopp kit. Bonus, in a pinch it works well as a lint brush to lift the nap of your fabric while brushing away any lint, just brush lightly! This is an exceptional brush in construction and in value.

wonderful brush
I have tried and gone through a lot of products in search for what I like and what works and is best for my beard. I'm happy to say at least the search for a good inexpensive boars hair brush is no longer a problem I have anymore. The brush is well made and perfect in size in my opinion. The bristles are soft but still coarse enough to work through a thick beard . Definitely helps work beard oil through the beard and helps train and smooth my beard. I would definitely recommend this brush to any beardsman and feel it is an irreplaceable tool in my beard kit.
