Not recommended; too old and the software URL is not longer available
Karen and Kevin wrote an interesting book with lots of basic principles in 2004. Today the book is dated and the supportive instructional software referenced by the authors is no longer available. Without that frame of reference, Steganography is more like a very large entry in Wikipedia than an integrated elementary methods guidebook. Most of the web sites and information used as illustrations in the text are also unavailable. An interested reader is probably better off finding a more recent publication with associated software for experimentation.

It's a nice book for image stego
I think it's really simple to understand in the way they explain stuff. And it's of high value, although the last chapter isn't very juicy.

Good overview and the software works
This book is quite short but represents a nice well written and accessable overview of steganography and some of the main image based steganography methods. Although its getting a little dated at this stage I would recommend it as a good undergraduate or first text on steganography. Most of the available books are more suited to postgraduate studies. By the way, I have tried the S/W associated with the book and it works although it takes a little effort to get the configuration right. Its also nicely documented which helps. The software implements a range of fairly classic steganography methods on gif images.
