GoldenRod 18 inch Gun Saver Dehumidifier GS-18

Works great, I should have done this first instead of spending money on those silly little dehumidifiers that cost about &20 each and don't do much, if anything. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has a gun safe. Mine maintained the temperature at 60 to 65 all winter and the humidity was always 40 to 45.

If you're too cheap or poor to properly heat your flat, putting one of these behind the chest of drawers, or in the closet on the North side of the house will cut down the condensation and thus the mold, at low cost, safely, and without human intervention. The black "Gun Saver" is a little cheaper (different materials) and a little less obvious than the marine grade GoldenRod models, and works just as well.

Works good and lowers humidity. This one is made in China. I try to buy American made products when I can and thought this was made here. There are others on Amazon that are made in the USA . Could have returned once received but did not think it was fair to the seller. Spend a few dollars more and buy American when you can.

I'm actually using it to heat a small cabinet in my garage with glue and other things I don't want freezing. Kept it up to 45 deg on a 10 deg day! The plug is removable which is good, so you can drill a very small hole in your cabinet for the wire.

Forget the physics and all the arguments for why the GoldenRod should or should not work. It does. Period.I live along the water in coastal Florida. My long guns are kept in a small Stack-On cabinet in a partially air conditioned area of the house. Mildew was a continual problem. During the summer my rifles with oiled stocks would grow the stuff at an alarming rate.Since installing my GoldenRod in early June I have had no recurring issues with mildew. Not one speck of the stuff has appeared on any of my guns despite a very rainy summer.

You can't go wrong with a GoldenRod Dehumidifier. While I purchased it for around the regular price, they had it in stock and it shipped fast. I couldn't find one locally with the recent gun craze most of the stores told me they had them on backorder. I was happy to get it so fast so I could protect my investments.

I know this product is usually used for safes. But I am using it in the engine compartment of my boat. It works great. I've used them in all my boats but always forget to take them when I sold them. No dangerous light bulbs. Does the same job as a bulb but safer.
