Beginning Pysanky? This will get you started.
I have not read any other books on how to get started creating Pysanky (decorated) eggs, so I have no similar products to compare. So this is the only book I have read on the subject, but I think this book is excellent. It takes you from knowing nothing and starts by telling you the materials and equipment you will need. It then takes you step-by-step on preparing the dyes and the eggs and how to do everything necessary to create a finished Pysanka egg. The book is easy to read and follow, but covers everything you will need to know to create Pysanky eggs.My only complaint is that some of the suppliers listed in the book are no longer in business. The book was published in 2018, and apparently there have been some changes in the status of some of the mentioned suppliers. For this, I cannot blame the authors.

great information
Great for information. Wish it had more beginner designs in it. I am teaching 4-H and the kids need beginner eggs to work up on. Too advanced for kids. But does guide me in making my own directions.

If you know the basics, don't bother
I like Lori Papow's style and patterns. This book will basically focus on one design.

Showed up with torn pages.
Love the book but it showed up damaged. The last 5 pages have the corners torn off. Not sure if it's miss handling in the warehouse or what.

Thorough! Happy to support Ukrainian art and tradition!
Very thorough step by step showing the traditional way to create these pysanky. From how to use the wax tool, drafting the initial pattern on the egg, to dying and wax removal, it is a handy beginner book. Inside you will also find references to where you can find traditional patterns and ideas to create your own.It is a pleasure to support Ukrainian tradition and Ukrainian artists. Psyanky designs and style vary by each ethnic subregion within Ukraine, throughout the Carpathians, and even into Poland and other regions. It is important to preserve this culture!
