Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Includes liner notes. The American funk/soul band Commodores peaked in the late 1970s through the mid-1980s with some wonderful hit classics, like 'Just to Be Close to You', 'Easy', 'Three Times a Lady', 'Still' and 'Lady (You Bring Me Up)'. Our exclusive Commodores Collected release contains all these classics, supplemented with fan favourites and other tracks from their impressive career. Commodores' long association with Motown began as a result of a tour opening for the Jackson 5 in 1971. With their brass musicians and co-lead singer Lionel Richie they reached fame by releasing their first R&B number one hit 'Slippery When Wet'. It meant the start of an impressive career, with seven number one songs and a host of other top 10 hits on the Billboard charts. In 1982 Lionel Richie left the band to pursue a solo career.

Not all tracks my favorite
Nothing wrong with the album. The wrap is impressive. But I only like part of the songs. Some songs I have never heard before. I liked Lionel Richie's album better because it has all the song I know and like.

Very well packaged
This isn't a greatest hits album, it's what the name says "collected". It's a collection of material meant to provide a broad range of the groups works. It has the songs I really wanted on it and I love the 180 gram vinyl. The records feel sturdy, like they will easily avoid warping over time. You may see reviews related to the color of the vinyl. They are black. Earlier availability was in colored vinyl but it is black now. The packaging was excellent. The gatefold cover was also in a heavy weight clear cover and that in a specially designed box. No damage to my albums. Very happy.

Great
This collection is great. Don't listen to those who complain about the color of the disc. Unless you're buying it to hang on the wall instead of listen to, who cares. Someone said real Commodores fans would be disappointed, not true, fake fans might be disappointed because it features some deeper cuts that show the full scope of what they were as a band. It sounds great, and is a phenomenal cross section of their catalog. Every song is great, even though some of them were never on the radio. Expand your horizons.

Fan-freaking-tastic. Sail On!!!
Great sounding beautiful colored double vinyl on 180g, beautiful gatefold cover with brand new liner notes capsuling the band's career, thick clear PVC sleeve to.protect the cover, what's not to like??? MOV does an awesome job as usual. It's super fun learning more about this great band and hearing some tracks before and after their major period of popularity. The only fault I can find is the album cover is on the thin side so a tad warbly, but that's a very minor point. Also, this "collected" series uses single edits, which was fine for this album except for "Still", where it was a bit jarring to be missing some lyrics I'm used to.Highly recommended..

CDS
I hardly knew most of the songs on this CD. I wish that I could see a list of all the songs that are on the CD before I buy it. I don't think that I'll be ordering anymore CDS on line.
