Was a little skeptical, and bummed I had to buy them at all. But 6 kids aged 8-16 in the house...nobody likes to ever shut the dang door and I was tired of heating and cooling all of earth. So ordered a set. Wish I hadn't waited so long. These things work great. And you can adjust the tension easily...from a slow soft close, to darn near slamming. Excellent hinges!

If you are installing on a regular door then you probably won't run into my problems. I installed a knocked-together garden gate to keep the dog out of my lumber pile. I screwed the hinges into the wooden fence, leaving the hole for the spring locking pin inaccessible (against the fence). If there were several holes drilled into the cylinder it wouldn't be a hassle, but there is only one hole.I finally tightened down the spring and installed the pin first - then screwed the hinges onto the fence. Sounds easy? Try opening a tightened hinge and install the screw with a power drill at the same time...

These are much nicer looking than the old Stanley brass spring-hinges I bought them to replace, but unfortunately not as high quality. For one thing, they creak--not terribly, but noticeably more than the old ones. Worse, on one of them I'm finding the little pin that you use to set the tension sometimes works itself loose with use. I don't know if it would ever come completely out on its own or not, but it definitely doesn't stay all the way in like it's supposed to. Maybe if I cranked the tension up higher it wouldn't happen, but that would make the door slam closed harder than I'd like. So I may try some epoxy glue or something on the head of the pin to try to keep it in place. Anyway, I'd have to call the design of these hinges disappointingly poor.

Replacing this hinge was only the third project in my life that turned out to be easier and faster than I expected. These hinges are an exact physical match for the non spring-loaded hinge I was replacing. Not only did the size match exactly, but the screw-holes did too. Adjusting the spring-tension was an absolute snap. So it took less than 5 minutes to remove the standard hinge, install the self-closing hinge, and adjust the spring. I'm a happy camper.

These arrived 2 to 4 days earlier than estimated which was great. I have used these hinges before most recently on our door between the house and our garage, they are a good solid working hinge, love the easy hex wrench adjustment on the top of the hinge, makes it super easy to adjust tension up or down. I use 2 of these hinges and 1 regular bolt hinge in the middle on our door which is a bit heavy and these do the trick and handle the closure easily. Can't beat the quality for the price.Only complaint would be the package was sent with fed x and packaged inside another protective soft package and the hinge box was busted open upon arrival and delivery, no harm to product luckily, not sellers fault but delivery handling might of been a bit rough.

The door to my garage made a loud snap sound an then it wouldn't close itself anymore. I got used to the fact that the door closes itself so I needed to replace the spring hinges. There are a lot of choices listed on Amazon but these had the same hole pattern as the ones I was replacing. That made things really easy. Also, there were tools and screws included in the box that also made things go smoothly. I'd buy them again but I hope I don't have to for a while anyway.

The plates that get screwed into the door and the door frame was slightly different size compared to the one I was replacing so I needed to get my dremel tool out to make it fit better and have the door close better. I have bought a door closer in the past and it was exact same fitment, so I assumed these would be pretty standard sizing. I did not dock the review of the product despite this because it still appears sturdy and does the job.

So far, so good. I was trying to decide between spring hinges and residential door/trim mounted door closer and figured this would be easier to try first. Ordered this double pack from Amazon because big box store wanted the same price for one. Installed 1 on interior garage door because kids seem to forget to close this door way too often. Quick tension adjustment and door closes as desired. Entire install process took 5 minutes. Might just use the other hinge on the powder room that never gets shut either.
