The Fault In Our Stars

I watched the movie because I read the book. I read the book because I was familiar with the author via the vlog he and his brother Hank have been doing for a long time and I like both of them. Generating enthusiasm for reading a book about a teenage girl with cancer who falls in love with a boy who lost one leg to cancer is an impossible task, but the people will draw you in and hold you there and help you to learn some useful lessons in ways that will move you tears and help you to laugh through them. The story is about how good life can be in spite of how bad it can seem. I am grateful for having gotten to know these characters and the intersection of their lives.

As an "old" man, you wouldn't think this would be the kind of movie that I would like. That I would regard it as a teen-age only movie.Wrong!I appreciated (no, loved) this movie on many levels. And I have watched it several times, and recommended it to other family members and friends.Because I remember being young and in love, with strong emotions.Because I have experienced deaths of those close to me, and I can taste, feel and intimately know how it feels.Because, as you get older, you think about the loss of those close to you.Because, as learn wisdom, you learn to enjoy the time with those you love, and look backward on those times with joy.Because the starring actress was so very excellent in her role. And the parents of both main characters were believable..So, I appreciated this movie so much, I would give it more stars if I could.Trust me, just watch it; if possible with someone you love.

Join Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters on the journey of love. This is a movie about cancer, but its not a movie about cancer. It is SO much more then that. Have your tissues ready guys, this movie will break your heart and make your believe in love at the same time. Comparing this to the book, I actually think they did a phenomenal job, it is hard to make a movie as good as a book but they defiantly followed the storyline pretty closely. They picked the most amazing characters for the part and imagined them exactly how they were in the movie. This is possibly my favorite movie at all time, a movie that can make you laugh and cry is truly a fascinating experience. Through the bad and the good these characters embrace every moment and captivate you in their world, after all they are "on a rollercoaster that only goes up" - Augustus Waters

This is my favorite movie. I love the book and the movie so much, they are my therapy. Let me explain. My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in October 2013. I read The Fault in Our Stars in December. My mom died in March of 2014. This movie came out about two months after she died... and it resonated with me heavily. The way that Augustus is when he is sick... was very similar to how my mom was. And how people treated Hazel after his passing, and how she felt about it, was very similar to my story. I actually tend to watch this movie when I need a good cry about losing my mom. It's my favorite movie and I will love it forever.

I was very pleasantly surprised at this movie. I was expecting another "oh she's sick and dying, let's make her fall in love and then die just after realizing her love" movie. Instead it was one of those "I want to live and love" movies...which during a pandemic and stay-at-home orders says a lot. The plot doesn't play out to more than expected, and their "affection" doesn't catch anyone by surprise. But what does make this worth watching is the sarcastic and rebellious dialogue offered by the young people. It's a very charming and refreshing slap on the face to those expecting something "oh no, not another dying movie...I want to kill myself."

Book was better, but this film super close and obviously the author was closely involved to ensure adaptation. So well done. This one will stay with you awhile. Powerful, gripping, engaging story line.Go into this one with a new box of Kleenex, and I'd strongly suggest it be the jumbo size box - you'll need it.Strongly feel that this story, with minor edits, would be a MUCH better story to have kids dive into than Romeo and Juliet. Everyone will one day face a reality of someone close to them with cancer or some other ailment. The message here is that life is precious, live it to the fullest, and R&J is a tragic love story, and there is a place for that I guess, but this story has a life lesson we can all relate to.

This movie is absolutely realistic. My daughter has been fighting cancer for the past three years and this really hit home. I felt empathy and understanding throughout the entire movie. During my daughters fight with cancer we have witnessed young love between cancer patients and it truly is tragic and beautiful.

Watched this after reading the book as part of a "book to film" series I was teaching. I drew the short straw and had to read a "chick book."I was pleasantly surprised to find that the book is soooo much more than that. This movie was another pleasant surprise. The acting is good, the music is excellent, and the tears on my face were real. I haven't felt so much emotion from a movie since watching Schindler's List in middle school. This one hits you right in the feels, it doesn't pull punches, and I wouldn't have it any other way.Highly recommended.

Definitely one of the lovliest, most moving films that I have seen. One of those films, where from the cover alone, you can't really determine too much in terms of guessing what the content may be like. Which I often find are the best. This very modestly delivers one of the most moving, thought provoking performances. I have bought this many times for friends. As someone who has lost someone who was extremely close to me in life, I empathised with this film whole heartedly. However the acting is so strong alone, that if you haven't personally been affected by this life altering subject, you feel as though you are connected with the characters and are experiencing the journey with them. I would recommend that everyone watches this, it's a film that certainly stays with you.

SPOILER ALERT: (and a slightly pithy, crass one at that) it's about terminal disease so don't expect a happy ending.However it's an excellent, important story and well made.

I got the Blu-ray/DVD/Digital edition. It was advertised as used but when it arrived it was still sealed, so it was new. The digital code 'expired' in 2017 but I tried it and it still worked. The movie is amazing as it displays hope and is an amazing love story for everyone to enjoy. The 4 bonus photos are a bonus and it love them so much. For all 3 formats of the film for £1.60, I would highly recommend it for everyone around the ages of 12 to 30.

This DVD was beautifully made, I have read John Greens book and have to say this was a brilliant screenplay. Obviously as ever in a film sections of the book have to be left out but the great thing about this film is whilst bits are left out due to time restraints etc there is rarely a thing that is changed. The characters were just how I had imagined them prior to watching and I just loved it!!! If you love the book I really believe you will enjoy this film. If you haven't read the book then you're an idiot!!

Tissues at the ready people! I gushed and I'm 45! My teenage girls wanted it and I was simply in the background. However before I knew it I was sitting beside them and totally sucked into this wonderful story. I don't want to give anything away so I won't say much more other than if you like boy/girl romance this is for you.But be warned you will blubber!
