The Magic of Ordinary Days

Spoiler alert - some plot elements discussed below. My favorite Hallmark movie. This isn't the usual Hallmark movie - the Hall of Fame series movies are different and more serious. There's a good story here, with good character development. Based on my childhood strict religious upbringing and the time frame of this movie, the basic premise - a young, unmarried girl from a strictly religious upbringing being conveyed into a forced marriage where the "matchmaker" on the other side brings in an honorable and decent partner who understands and accepts the situation - is completely plausible. And from there the story proceeds nicely. The one thing that didn't immediately ring true with me was the depiction of WWII interment camps. My understanding was that the camps were closed; the detainees were isolated within the camps and not allowed out. But this led me to investigate further, and I did learn that internees were used to augment local farm labor. So, that story arc increased my awareness.

Best Hallmark Period Movie Ever! Wonderful performances by excellent actors and beautiful storyline. Based on the book by the same name.

I really like this movie. It won’t win an Academy award, but it’s not even close to a Hallmark movie either. It was well acted and a really good story. I’ve watched it twice now.

this movie was so cute. it wasn’t anything overly dramatic or overly sad or funny, etc. it was just a feel good “find love in unexpected places” type of film. I saw a clip of it on social media and it pulled me in. I’m so glad I rented it.

I wasn't going to watch this movie because I thought it looked really sappy and cheesy. But I saw a few clips on YouTube and thought the acting looked good and the costumes/set was historically authentic. This movie is really good. It's a slow paced look at people. And it's old enough that it doesn't try to preach at you or jam an ideology down your throat. It's simply a good story about people and how they are (the good and the bad). It looks at how poor choices can hurt others and how joy can be found in the day to day beauty of trying to love people where they're at.

This was a really good, feel good movie where the decent guy wins in the end. I always like movies that have admirable characters and this one had many.

Wonderful redeeming sweet story. Definitely worth watching.

The actors and actresses are so correct for their rolls, I watch this film often, it never gets old!

I love this movie on so many levels. Beautiful scenery, wonderful costumes, and good actors. But what I love most is we see these great relationships develop right before our eyes. Friendships between women of different stations in life; the friendliness of church members, learning to be appropriately interested but not prying; brothers and sisters working together and still knowing how to respect personal matters; and finaly, the growth of a beautiful marriage relationship that started out as a mere convenience. This whole movie is a pleasant surprise if you like more subtle action in a movie.
