Making a change and checking it TWICE!
I have ordered books on Amazon and read them and never thought to go back and leave a review. However with this young lady I actually decided to go ahead and give my two cents about this book PIAR and the other book that she wrote Money Honey! Yes I have read both books and actually enjoyed reading both books. The first book Money Honey took me some time to read because it requires you to be honest with yourself and layout your life in front of you. To be honest I was already doing that however Money Honey just help me pull the loose ends together and see the clear vision of the next step which was PIAR in a nutshell! I honest think these two books should be on every woman's growth shelf.PIAR only took me a few days to read because that is where I am in life right now generating passive income so that I can quit my job. I have a few things lined up! After reading PIAR I actually downloaded Adobe Illustrator and taught myself through YouTube how to PERFECT my logo that I created from scratch! Also I am a poet, and artist so Adobe Illustrator is perfect because I am also developing a website from scratch have been self-teaching for years now. This is only one of the few ideas listed that I will be partaking in! I mean she just address so many concerns for me that I am now confident will not be an issue moving forward! I just ordered 5 more books to get the ball rolling on a personal venture of mine so I am excited to see how I incorporate everything else I learned form these two books to my projects!PIAR is a very detailed and well thought out read. IT comes off as honest and very sincere. There are no GIMICKS in this book no get rich quick schemes or pyramid scam either. PIAR really talks to your "Brand You" that you are trying to discover she gives it an outline or guide if you will. Helps redirect your view on what can be considered passive income for those who do not have pure talent that brings in money. Everything I read in this books screamed FACTS! I have pink sticky notes in just about every damn chapter because when I say she drops some gems I was just blown away like why haven't I thought of that!! The hell I been living under a rock!! I am not big on social media but now that I am starting my own business that will change. I did use it when I was younger so I am not foreign to it at all it will be fun to have a purpose to be on there!I guess this is helping the growth for the first book Money Honey (no promo pay)!I do NOT recommend buying this book if you have not read the first book! I know you may think you have left no stone unturned but that is not true! If you read the first book Money Honey and check everything off on the list, only then will this book be your next step! Rachel! Money Honey!! Luckily for me my GOLDEN number is not negative!Thank you Rachel!!(Please note this will be copied on the Money Honey book review as well!)

Fun and informative financial guide that empowers readers to take action
This is for the 2nd edition of Money Honey.Money Honey is an excellent, approachable, minimal nonsense guide to helping you get your finances in order. It has introductions to basic financial concepts such as saving, taxes, and investing that should be required reading for all young adults. It also drills down into some specific examples of how to set a budget, properly save, file taxes, and deal with debt that make it a great reference for anyone struggling in those areas. The author manages to keep the topics fun and interesting at almost every turn, which is a commendable accomplishment given the subject. It strikes an excellent balance of encouraging and empowering the reader while also pulling no punches in calling for personal responsibility. The reader is admonished to take many actions and customize the advice for their own benefit. It can get a bit dry when really hitting the nitty-gritty details of things like the bucket savings plan, filing taxes, and a real-life example of implementing the Money Honey 7-step plan.Thankfully, the book is written in such a fashion that you can easily identify and digest the parts that are most interesting and relevant to you. If you're all-in on the Money Honey plan, then all the details are there, but if you just want an overview of any of the topics, there are handy TL;DRs at the start of each chapter that break down the key concepts. Useful for both an overview and referencing down-the-road.There are a few rough patches in the book. In discussing investing, most of the advice is reasonable recommendations of low-cost index funds or ETFs, but multiple references are made to "buy low, sell high" which is trite and not helpful in the context of the rest of the investing advice. Since the primary focus is on low-cost funds it seems the more appropriate advice is just buy and hold. There's also an excellent discussion of getting your income to exceed your expenses so that you are effectively retired. At the same time, however, the author highly promotes government retirement funds where your money is not immediately accessible or generating any usable income. There's a big trade-off in opportunity cost here that's not acknowledged as, if a person can generate cashflow TODAY from their dollars, it may be more beneficial to them do so versus putting the money in limited fund options where they can't access it for maybe 30+ years.I can live with these issues, though, as the book is more introductory and the author has written a separate book on Passive Income, Aggressive Retirement that is an excellent follow-on and helps open readers eyes to further details of how to live financially free.If you're new to the whole finance/adulting world, I highly recommend this book.

Looking to start your journey to financial literacy? Try reading this book first!
****I received this copy in return for my honest review****Money Honey 2ed is a great introduction to learning how to manage finances, which - to me - is a critical life skill. Rachel Richards manages to make a jargon heavy topic easy to understand and relatable to both the young and young at heart. The book is divided into five sections: Savings, Debt, Investing, Taxes & Insurance, and Strategy. In the Introduction (which I would encourage anyone to read because it gives an overview of what she hopes you will take away from the book, in addition to some interesting and humorous backstories), she encourages you to jump to the section which holds your interest. What I also appreciated were the small summaries to each chapter in the form of a “tl;dr”, which made reading more efficient. My favourite chapters were the first three, savings, debt and investing - after all, increasing savings, decreasing debt and earning passive income are pluses in my book. I especially found value in the section on credit cards, and will definitely take the advice given on how to treat them! Additionally the comparison between buying stocks, mutual funds and index funds was eye opening: I will be looking into index funds very soon! This is not to say the section on taxes and insurance were of lesser value, but as I am not a US citizen, some of the aspects did not apply.Money Honey was a great read. Definitely recommend!.
