I really needed some 5mm safety eyes to complete a project (I'd purchased an amigurumi booklet that had the materials for the first 2 projects, which included 1 set of the 5 mm safety eyes) and I wanted to keep the eyes all the same size. I couldn't find 5mm anywhere near where I live (checked Joanne's, Michaels, and a few local craft shops). Gave up and bought these despite the terrible reviews.Bad idea.I don't think they're measured quite right, because as previous reviews stated, they won't close up. You can't add the backing. It won't work. I tried pliers, tried using a button-maker thing I had. I tried my bare hands! Nothing worked. Tossed them all, do not recommend, would not buy again.
