Full of thrill, madness and all the excitement you need!
Okay, I'll come clean before starting on with this review. I'm not a batman fan. I've never read a single DC comic in my whole life. But after reading this book, I am a Harley Quinn fan. (Still not into Batman, though.)I loved reading this book because though I hadn't read any of the DC comics, I read Catwoman last month, and I loved Harley's character. When I realized I could get a chance to know why she was the way she was, I knew I had to take it.The transformation of HQ from Harleen Quinzel to Harley Quinn was so seamlessly narrated that I had to go back and read a few pages in order to pinpoint the moment it'd happened, the moment Harleen Quinzel, the young psychiatrist had disappeared and Harley Quinn, the tough Brooklyn-cookie/harlequin had appeared.Harley's experience as a young girl changed her in many ways, some of which only showed up once she got in contact with the Joker. I loved how she transformed thrice, once when that incident from her childhood took place, and then when she met and fell for the Joker and then yet again when she realised that the Joker was a good-for-nothing Psycho killer. All in all, Mad Love was full of madness—some awesome, some awful—and excitement. I didn't have a single dull moment.

DC fans, this one is for YOU!
Mad Love-Harley Quinn takes you into the life of Dr. Harleen Quinzel, a psychologist at the Arkham Asylum that is the home to our arch villain, The Joker or Mr. J, as Harleen refers. Harleen had a troubled life as a kid living with her criminal father and mother. Her most dangerous encounter, at the age of 6 where she and her father visit a carnival and her father is arrested in a case. She is later kidnapped by her father’s accomplice-turned-enemies and nearly escapes.A few years down the line, she joins Arkham Asylum, a prison for the most dangerous criminals including Poison Ivy, Killer Croc and Joker. On her first day, she knocks down Killer Croc with a fire extinguishers and catches the eye of Joker. Dr. Quinzel soon takes up the case of Joker and arranges private meetings to cure him, much to the dismissal of her senior, Dr. Leland. Before she realizes, she is drawn closer to Joker who is known for his manipulation. Her closeness to him also results in her increasing hate towards Batman, whom Joker blames for his condition. To cure him, Harleen organizes a pool activity outside the asylum of which Joker takes advantage and escapes, later being caught by Batman. Her hate for Batman increases and to help Joker escape, Harleen Quinzel turns into Harley Quinn! She frees Joker only to realize, he was never in love with her. She traps Batman to make Joker believe in her but instead is knocked down and thrown down a building by Joker himself.I have never read the DC comics but having watched Suicide Squad and falling in love with Harley Quinn, I took no delay in getting my hands on this comic adaptation and to my surprise, I LOVED IT. Mad Love gives you a proper insight of Quinzel’s life as a child, how she became of psychologist to treat her own broken and pieces, how she meets Joker, falls in love and becomes Harley Quinn. The description of each and every major scene is so vivid that you can imagine them flashing in front of your eyes, from her costume, to her maniac behavior and how she manages to pull Joker out of the asylum. I enjoyed reading about how my favorite character from the DC comics came LIVE right in front of my eyes. What I wish for more is the next installment (if any) about her landing in SUICIDE SQUAD because hell yeah! the JOKER was back (as depicted in the movie)

An Exciting read for DC fans
This book is an exciting read for anybody who has a vague idea about DC characters like poison ivy batman Harley Quinn and the joker. It stars off by delving straight into Harley’s origin story. I personally enjoyed this more than I might have enjoyed a graphic novel. It had a lot more depth and the words made up where there were no pictures to support the tale. You get a peek into Harley’s dark past and how she turns into a villain. At times, the sentences end abruptly and the next chapter takes you to a completely unrelated scene which makes this book read like a movie. Not sure if this will work for all types of readers. But it was okay for me. I couldn’t bring myself to finish it in one sitting. I somehow felt that Harley is a character with so much potential and the writers didn’t do justice to bring out her worth. At times, other characters and their quirks sideline her. What I liked best is the novel’s manner of dealing with the characters inner conflicts. This is key for when you’re writing about someone as complex as Harley. I felt like that inner struggle was very visible throughout and the resolution was brilliant. The authors give you a chapter in the end that works much like a post credit scene. This chapter ties everything up in such a way as to present a delightful end. On the whole, this book was worth my time.
