I've read almost everything that Jeremy Robinson has written, als also really like almost everything that I read, but this one is special. Like his book Infinity this is a story about a man's internal journey. Of course, it is full of action, about a man who survives a plane crash in the Amazon jungle and has to adapt to survive. But much more important is the impact of his actions and experiences on his internal belief system. The book contains wonderful action, and beautiful characters, but the real story is in his head.So, yes, like everybody before me, I also have to give 5 stars to this one. And yes, like many others before me, the ending also brought tears to my eyes (and I'm a 58-year old male, dammit...).

This is by far one of my favorite stand alone novels from Author Jeremy Robinson, I would say my 2nd best favorite since my all time favorite is Apocalypse Machine.From a man, a doctor, a husband, a father stranded in Amazon rainforest, to fight to survive in the jungle, with tribes untouched from outside world, being hunted, adapted to this unknown place is just not enough, he must Altered himself into Legend. Survival for the fittest. To the old and new world.This is very well written, learned so much about jungle life.Is this the type of story you like. Try it for yourself, you will not be disappointed. :)

Hate to break-up the party, but Alter isn't one of Robinson's 5-star efforts. The beginning was fascinating, and I was totally captivated. Hard to describe where it went wrong for me without giving away the story. Best to just say I felt the second half was overdone and stretched credibility--until it broke. I skimmed through a lot of it. All this said, the novel concluded coherently, and it was worth the read.

After Kaiju and Infinite I didn't think Jeremy Robinson could get better! His central theme in a lot of his books is life throwing you into a situation you never expected. And Alter is no different. The brilliance of Robinson is making each book so diverse you want to read about trials and tribulations!Alter is a book that makes you feel something. My emotions were all over the place and still are when I think of it. The depth of writing was solid. The liver scene had me laughing out loud. I became angry, fearful, hopeful, lost, and tearful. The character development was outstanding! He became a man. You felt every decision he made. Life alters you. Maybe not this extreme... But life is joy and pain. How you come out the other side of a altering experience depends on life. This book made me think. It was an excellent book. It will go on my yearly reread list. Jeremy Robinson is amazing!

Alter is one of those lost in the jungle stories that keeps changing on you, alters if you will, lol. It’s a crazy novel and rather different than other books by Robinson, yet his writing style is very much present. I found myself reading it quickly, eager to see what happened next. Emotions, suspense, some action, and even some creepy stuff, check this book out if you like such things!

I read a lot of Mr. Robinson's books and I have to say that Alter is probably my favorite so far. The story is fantastic - it grabs you right from the first page, drags you along with it and doesn't let up. The characters are complex and the ending is satisfying, even though I wasn't sure which way it would go as I got close. I hated to finish it - it went by way too fast. But I would recommend it to anyone who likes his novels or just likes a great story. This is it.

I discovered Jeremy Robinson's sci fi late in life. I have only read 4 of his books so far, unlike most of his other readers and reviewers. Alter is quite different from the other three that I read but just as wonderful a read, maybe even more so. So many emotions are wrapped into this innovative and inspired Amazon jungle plot. Robinson has a way of making you feel everything with his extremely descriptive detail....fright, fear, anger, disgust, empathy, loneliness and yes, even romance and love. I loved this book and highly recommend it. You are in for a real treasure of a story.

To say this book is an emotional roller coaster would be an understatement. We never know what we could be until pressured by the unknown. Follow the journey of a doctor who becomes something else, then becomes a man. This is s great story, told well. Jeremy never ceases to amaze me with his story telling prowness. Phil Clinton

I just finished Alter, and my emotions are raw. This is such a powerful book, and is one of the best by Jeremy Robinson that I have read.The story grabbed me from the start, and I couldn't put the book down. Alter is the story of Greg, a doctor, who has flown to the Amazon to help the native tribes. But on his way there, he is in a plane crash, and is stranded in the Amazon jungle, alone, far from civilization. This is the story of his survival, and how he changes, both mentally and physically, in order to survive. The story is fast paced and exciting, raw, brutal and violent. But it is also full of strength and love. It is totally enthralling, and leads you through a gamut of emotions. I admit, I shed a few tears at the end of Alter, and will be thinking of it for a long while to come.

I might be biased since I enjoy reading Mr. Robinson's books but this book was great. It was engrossing from the beginning and I could not put it down - literally- I read it in a single day. A man survives a plane crash in the Amazon. After rescuing a tribal women from another tribe that wiped out her own tribe - she teaches him to survive in the jungle. As he learns to thrive in the jungle - he begins to change - starting to become a predator.This is typical Jeremy but with a twist.

I was hooked from the beginning. This story weaves every character, every chance encounter, together into a whole that is more heart rending than I ever would have expected.

That's how long it took to read this masterpiece. JR you have given me another sleepless night - thank you! Certainly not your usual fare and no Kaiju to worry about but you have created a sure-fire monster of a man.

I have read many of Jeremy’s books, this is another great one. I couldn’t put it down. The characters come alive between the pages, the ending was very emotional.Thank you for writing such a fine book.
