The Perfect Companion to Understanding Nagarjuna's Mulamamadyamikakarika
If you've read, or are now reading, Nagarjuna's Mulamadhyamaka-karika translated by Jay Garfield and found yourself struggling to navigate between Nagarjuna's arguments and the opposing arguments by the Sarvastivadins, then I have good news for you: Nagajuna's Vigrahavyavartani is THE consummate perfect companion to help you navigate the Nagarjuna. Reading only the first few pages, I realized I'd finally found the resource I needed to get my arms around the Mulamadhyamaka-karika.Of course, one who's studying the Mulamadhyamaka-karika doesn't have to get Garfield's book - you can rely just on Westerhoff's Vigrahavyavartani alone to study the Mulamadhyamaka-karika.Westerhoff has another book called "Nagajuna's Madhyamaka" which is a useful "encyclopedia" of terms you may turn to periodically as you go through "The Dispeller of Disputes".Richard H. Jones has also published an excellent book, titled simply "Nagarjuna", and that, too, is another superb companion book to either Garfield's translation or Westerhoff's "The Dispeller of Disputes".Anyone studying Nagajuna is encouraged to at least get Westerhoff's "Dispeller of Disputes"..........I ought to know, having studied Nagarjuna for many years.

once I got used to the writer's style it was fine . Nagarjuna is never an easy read at the best of times so I quite often re-read passages more than once ( sometimes more than twice ) . I will read this book again and again as I do with all of Nagarjuna's works which is not something that I can say about other writers .
