Not Just for Kids
The book is wonderful. It's a history of modern art showing how artists such as Picasso, Van Gogh, etc would have painted the Mona Lisa. The illustrations and text explain the various art movements and concepts. I bought this book to give to my adult daughter who was an art history major. I have also recommend it to many others with children of all ages.

Works great for teaching
We use this for teaching Arts Exploration and works great on showing different styles of different artists. Can be used as an example for other famous paintings too such as how Andy Warhol and other artists would paint a Georgia O'Keefe's work etc...I find it really very interesting and well thought.

My kids LOVED this!
We read this book before a trip to Paris to see the real Mona Lisa, plus other museums. My 7yo and 8yo were enthralled as we covered an artist or two a night, and compared the art in the book to images of paintings the artists have done. We talked about what they thought about the paintings and how it progressed through the book. The author/illustrator did such an AMAZING job bringing this to kids' level. And we learned a lot too!

An Imaginative Lesson in Art History
The media could not be loaded. Piotr Barsony frames The Stories of the Mona Lisa with father-daughter conversation about art history. In this book's vivid illustrations, Barsony reinterprets the Mona Lisa in the styles of key painters to represent the progress of art over the course of 150 years. The product is a charming, well-informed tour through major European and American artists and the movements, techniques, and sensibilities associated with them. The illustrations are fresh and any art enthusiast can appreciate the accuracy of their representations. Since this is an intensely visual book, I have attached a visual component to better convey its contents. As Barsony's renditions of the Mona Lisa are intensely compelling and fresh, this book is a delightful and informative treat for young and old alike.
