... but after the first run of milk it worked perfect and clean-up wasn't as bad as I expected
I was intimidated at first but after the first run of milk it worked perfect and clean-up wasn't as bad as I expected. I wish the product came with instructions on how to use it and how to take it apart to clean it. I had to go to YouTube for those lessons. But like I said, after using it once it becomes easy. The item is very large. Do not count on storing it in a cupboard. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to the lack of an instruction book.

First, I had ordered a manual cream separator. second, I was not aware it required international shipping to return it, total cost to return $120.25. Third it was not well well made and it had a European plug with a cheap European adaptor.

Works great!
I love this little separator! It's perfect for a single cow milking twice a day. Not too much hassle to take apart, wash, and reassemble.

Works well, reasonably priced, some helpful tweeks included in review
I came across this separator somewhere else while looking for an antique one. Had no luck finding an old one with all it's parts for a reasonable price. Everyone said they had the parts but they were wrong. So I took a chance and bought this model (all metal). It works very well on goats milk which is what I use it for. The separated cream is very thick and makes great butter.Unit is easy to clean, reasonably priced, built fairly well, and works. The only thing you must know is to have preheated the unit by pouring warm water thru it first before you pour in the milk - and make sure the milk is at the right temperature. I pasturize my milk first at 145 degrees F for 30 minutes and then cool to 110 degrees F in ice water bath before putting it thru the unit. Does a very nice job. Tried adjusting the adjustment screw for amount of cream left in milk but ended up right back where it came set at from the factory. When you are done and have poured more warm water thru to flush out the cream and skim milk you will still need to 'clean' out the cream residue from the spout and the inside rim of the cone 'holder'. It's not hard, but you don't want to lose all that now do you! Before pouring in the warm water to wash it out make sure to change out the catch skim milk jar so you don't get all that water mixed in. But it takes longer for the cream to come out, kind of on a delay so wait to switch out that catch jar just till the cream starts to show the water mixed in with it.My only issue is that this is made of aluminum. I know an all stainless one costs WAY more so compromises had to be made. After receiving the unit and washing it well I tried to rub off some 'metal' with a towel and didn't get any. (You will see this if you scour a stainless steel or metal pan and then wash and then dry hard with a towel and the residue leaves a grey haze on your cloth.) So I am somewhat satisfied that since the temp is not too high and the 'metal' doesn't leave a residue on a towel when rubbed well that there isn't a transfer of aluminum to the milk, at least not a measureable amount. And there is no scraping of parts so no little slivers or minute aluminum dust.In addition I would love to have a somewhat smaller additional bowl that the milk is poured into. This bowl is very large and it's not often that I have enough milk to require that large of a receptacle. It would be nice is all. And for those that think they can put it under their upper cabinets on the counter. That only works without the large receptacle bowl on top. I store that in a large bottom drawer. So overall I am pleased with this purchase (albeit not from Amazon but the same unit). Anyone looking to separate milk will find it very useful.Hope this was helpful to someone looking to buy. I purchased blindly but am happy none the less! The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of five is the aluminum. I purchased it knowing it was made from that but I can't give it 4 1/2 stars unfortunately or I would have done so. If you have no problem with aluminum then five stars it would be.
