My son loves reading about history and this was the first chapter book he read all the way through. He enjoyed choosing the different paths and learning what would happen with the different choices. I liked how it told both sides of the story and it was an unopinionated history. I did find it a little unnerving when he would come up to me and say "I died" but he was reading. The story was not told in descriptions so much as facts and statements but my son doesn't care about the details so much. I found it a bit boring but my son enjoyed it.

Kid-approved!
My 8-year-old son adores this series so much! He is a huge history fan and avid reader of non-fiction, so finding fiction that he enjoys is rare. Enter in historical fiction. He loves the fact he is IN the story. It makes history come alive for him.

Great books
Exciting stories and historically accurate. We have been using to supplement our homeschool history curriculum. Kids (ages 5-15) love choosing what path to take. Makes learning fun!

Good, but watch the age range!
I got this for my six-year-old, who reads at an advanced level and is pretty bored with, say, ninjago and magic tree house. The problem we have is getting him good material that is still *age* and *maturity level* appropriate, and boy does this fall into that. The book is great: Choose your person, choose his/her actions, and they are all very reasonable. Tough stuff, it's a war, but fine.Right up until the boy gets caught, stripped, tied to the mast of a ship, whipped, description of back striped, his blood running and mixing with water on the deck, and he gets dragged off by his friends but dies of an infection. AWESOME, that's not something he's going to read before bed anytime soon without having nightmares. So, if you have a mature kid that doesn't nightmare, it's great. If you're thinking a younger/sensitive one can handle it ... read the whole thing first. The opening pages look fine, but it turns more graphic/mature further in.

AWESOME BOOKS-MY KID LOVES THEM
I bought a handful of these hoping they wouldnt just be another failed attempt to get my youngest (11 year old son) to actually want to read. Well these books brought success. He gets to interact with the book by making choices so hes even excited to re-read the books that hes finished to see what happnes when he makes differant choices...the best part is they are based on true events so he is learning history and not just reading for fun. Will be buying lots more of these.

Great review of Revolutionary War
We have just completed the Revolutionary War and this served as an interesting review since the children could pick where they wanted to be and what they would be doing throughout the story. The interaction kept their attention. I didn't want to spoil it by telling them they were learning something.

The Revolutionary War (You Choose: History)
I liked the fact that you could choose what you wanted to do, even if you ended up dying. I would recommend this for kids ages 6+. I also liked it had real facts, as if a normal book, but choosing your path.
