Norse Gods and Goddesses (Dover Coloring Book)

Although it is a coloring book please note I would not just "send" to a child until you read the contents. I am Scandinavian and am aware of my ancestors history and lore. Death and war are topics covered in this book.It is great if You are the parent and want to teach your child the lore, Teens and Adults. If you practice Asatru, this might come in handy when you feel your children are ready. I gave it 5 stars because it's still a good and informative coloring book.

I thought this book would have more pages and feature more Gods and Goddesses. Great stories.

I was Very Impressed with this Book! My Kids Loved it!!

This is a Dover coloring book mixed with text. So there is not as may coloring pages in this book. The art style in this book is a little off to me, but there was one page in particular that I really wanted to color.But the images are beautiful still, but just not my favorite by Dover.

Love the illustrations and the stories. I bought this as an aid to help educate my grandson about his roots.

Full page pictures with the information written on the opposite side. If your child is learning about the Norse gods and goddesses then this is an invaluable teaching aid/extra.The author/artist has left it up to the child's imagination as to how to color the pictures so this may not work for everyone as some children may get frustrated not having a "model" to copy.

Very excited when this arrived, its my favorite mythical age. The book arrived safe and free of creases or bent pages.The book even has mini descriptions of the gods and goddesses and small stories of their legends. I would reconmend this coloring book to anyone interested in that time period. i could especially see children enjoying this book.

Jeff A. Menges has compiled a fine colouring book on the Norse Gods and Goddesses for the excellent Dover publications.Just like the others in the series this too works on two levels.It both entertains and educates.Firstly as a colouring book this is excellent and surprisingly cheap.The art is clear not so detailed as others which makes it much better as a colouring book.Dover really are focused on saving the planet and the paper that they use is recycled- saving trees and planting others. So there is a trade off with the quality of the paper.True you would be better with coloured pencils rather than paints or pens as both will bleed and actually go through the pages.The paper is not robust and the siren's call of the photocopier set to 131% beckons.Secondly the book actually tells you something about the fantastic subject of Norse Mythology which has always seemed a lot earthlier, if you will pardon the expression when talking of gods.If you are a teacher or in Education then this is the book for you.Each page has a decent caption and a reasonably detailed explanation.True not all the gods or goddesses are covered but the book would have to be many times thicker to cover half of it.The subjects selected are excellent and very detailed with a good selection of subject matter.If you are teacher or in education and you class or students are covering the Vikings then this is an excellent resource.As a Primary Teacher and History Coordinator I was always after good resources.In my opinion this book would have been an excellent choice. Inexpensive and adaptable.Jeff A. Menges has compiled a brilliant book.Get it while you can for pennies like I did mine.Thanks for reading.
