Not bad to have around
First, a critique of the physical book:Pros- large print (almost disturbingly so)- simple format- attractive coverCons- a few oil names misspelled repeatedly- some editing needed- b&w pics only and they are pretty random- no title on spine- check marks are used where bullet points belong (distracting)Content:Pros- 39 women’s perfume recipes- 24 men’s perfume recipes- 10 unisex perfume recipes- basic info on 60 essential oilsCons- no safety data on the essential oils- some of the oils in the recipes are skin irritants, yet this isn’t discussed in the book- no discussion of the ethics of acquiring some perfume materials (for example rosewood oil)- only discusses alcohol- and oil-based perfumes, no mention of solidsAt first glance the recipes look pretty interesting. The men’s recipes seem more interesting than the women’s. Most of the women’s recipes include a fair amount of vanilla, jasmine or neroli which are fantastic but pretty expensive for beginners. I would have loved to see some more budget-friendly blends. I have about 40 different EOs but could not make most of the recipes without purchasing something. Recipes range from using 2-13 different oils with most having about 5-6.There is not a lot of explanation regarding why certain perfume bases are used in some recipes but not others. Some ingredients’ presence in recipes is not explained (for example vitamin E, which I presume is used as a preservative). This isn’t a good ‘template’ book. You won’t find base recipes to add to. Many recipes require ‘as needed’ amounts of perfume base, which can be tough for beginners to determine. This book is kind of awkwardly juxtaposed between being an incomplete resource for beginners and too simple for experienced folks. If you need ideas to get the creative juices going, it’s not a bad investment, but it had neither the depth I was looking for nor the attention to detail that beginners can appreciate. As a graphic designer, this book’s lack of professional layout is annoying, but most folks probably won’t have a problem with that. All in all it’s not a bad book by any means, but I’d recommend using it in conjunction with Create Your Own Perfumes Using Essential Oils by Chrissie Wildwood, anything by Mandy Aftel, or anything by Robert Tisserand (aromatherapy but excellent data on safety etc).

I love that this book actually has amazing smelling RECIPES!
I love that this book actually has RECIPES! So much great practical information, then a ton of detailed recipes to actually try out what you learned. I looked at every single similar book when I had a kindle unlimited subscription. This is the only one I actually bought because I needed to have it when my subscription was over!

Okay
This book would be good for a beginner like me. Doesn’t go into alot of detail and it is a short book. But it has some helpful recipes.

It's OK
This book had some good information, however, some of the "recipes" don't specify what size bottle to use or how much of a certain ingredient to put in. Also the amount of essential oils being used in some of the recipes is way to much! The book is ok but I will be looking for another.

Wonderful for a beginner who is new to the world of essential oil perfume-making
Very good book about making essential oil perfumes, ideal for a beginner as it contains all you need to know to get started, plus has some lovely recipes to try. I really recommend to someone who is just starting out with making essential oil perfumes. Only reason I gave 4 and not 5 stars is because sometimes things are a bit unclear, for example in some recipes the author doesn’t say what size bottle you’re meant to be using for them. You can work it out but it would be easier and more consistent to say what size bottles are intended to be used for every one. Still a wonderful book though and I do recommend.
