Disappointing
Anything Koester writes is an easy read. This book has a ton of prototype information, not just on the actual facilities, but the why and how behind them and how they were used. What I found unacceptable was the complete lack of how to model these facilities. Every time Tony would present a nice facility on a model layout, the text would instruct the reader to look into another magazine or book for the track plan! It was like using the book as an advertisement for several other books. Would it have cost that much to put a track plan or two in there?Lame.

Same Tired Coverage, Regret Purchase
It's 2018 not 1950. Author focuses on Steam, Transition, very limited diesel era operations. Unless your modeling interests are completely consistent with the author's, save the money.

nice overview
Very nice book that provides an overview of engine service facilities. A few more model layout examples would have enriched the book though.
