A Dance Like Starlight: One Ballerina’s Dream Hardcover – Picture Book, January 2, 2014

I don't usually gush this much over a book, but, OH MY! This one is a keeper. If you've ever had a dream that's near and dear to your heart, or if you know of a child who is a dreamer, this book is for you. Dempsey's lyrical text will touch something deep inside of you and make you believe that all of your dreams can come true, and Cooper's illustrations transport you directly into the young ballerina's world. So, so special!

I love this book because, although the child character, is fictional, the story of the ballerina's dream is true. Janet Collins was my teacher in college and she was a strong, proud, multi talented woman. The other things about this book that is special is the lyrical text, poetic in its descriptions yet not so complicated that a young person wouldn't be able to understand it. Altogether, a wonderful book.

I got this for my niece who is taking dance classes and ballet - she loved the story, and also the fact that she could even take it to her school and use it for a black history project.

I bought this book for my mother's second grade class. I thought the story, illustrations, and the message were wonderful and it should be a must for any child to encourage their dreams!

This is such a sweet book. It reinforces the truth that with work and perseverance dreams can come true. Little girls who dream of being a ballerina will particularly love this book!

Such a great book to encourage you to dream the biggest dream and go after it. You will not be disappointed. From children to adults, this book will be appreciated by all!

I got this for my niece and we both loved it! Inspiring for music/dance lovers with a racially sensitive message for following our dreams, no matter what world we live in things change to be more open & embracing. Lovely storyline!
