Tar Beach is a true story of old Brooklyn when the only place to go outdoors was on the roof. You could eat there, socialize. take pictures and get a breath of air. I sent this book to my Grandson in Brooklyn to know what life was like in the 30'3 and 40's in Brooklyn. A great book for all ages.
