At first I was a bit concerned after reading reviews about the dimmer switch (basically a variable resistor) heating up, melting, and causing a fire. My kid bought this Himalayan Pink Salt Lamp for my wife as a Christmas gift because she has been wanting one for a long time. I read up on the fire hazard and noticed that a recall has been placed on this salt lamp. All of the one star rated "fire warning" reviews are from many months or years ago. So I assume that the batch that was sent out has had this dimmer issue fixed. Basically a higher wattage variable resistor is needed to fix this problem.At any rate, we plugged the unit into an electrical outlet, dimmed the light to a very pleasing dim orange color and placed the lamp on a table. The lamp has been turned on 24/7 for a couple of weeks now. The dimmer is cold to the touch and we have experienced no issues whatsoever with the product. We are very pleased with the lamp, its appearance, and the nice pinking-orange dimmable warm glow it casts.If any issues arise I will update this review. So far we are happy with the lamp.

I purchased this item from Amazon and a year or so later the dimmer switch stopped working. When I took it apart to inspect I found the transistor (which is severely undersized for this design) had overheated and burned up itself and the circuit board. I searched the part numbers online and discovered this is the *exact same* board that has been recalled by other manufacturers (i.e., Micheals). I do not understand why Amazon has not recalled their version of it yet. It is a fire waiting to happen. I would not recommend anyone using this product.EDIT: After a bit more research it seems the manufacturer may have changed the dimmer to a safer version recently. Here is a picture of mine for reference. If your dimmer has these markings it is the version that is faulty and will burn up. The little thing next to the cover is the transistor that burned up. It used to have three terminals but the other one disintegrated.Edit April 2018. I called the manufacturer, WBM, and explained my situation and they agreed to send me a new dimmer cord with no questions asked. The new cord is vastly different and contains a completely redesigned circuit (I took it apart to inspect). It is EIC approved and labeled as such. The replacement was free.

I purchased this salt lamp with low expectations of any kind of health benefits. The price point is low enough to be worth the risk and it is a good looking decoration. I can say that I have been blown away by the performance of this lamp. I turn it on when I sleep on a dim setting and have noticed that when I wake up, I have less "eye boogers" and can breathe better through my nose. I assume this is due to the dust, pollen, general particulate attracting characteristic of the salt lamp. I have used all sorts of diffusers and oils, nose filters, etc and this lamp has given me better results than all of them. Considering I live in the land of pollen (Florida), this lamp is invaluable. I like it so much I bought another after a week of using it!

I love this lamp! I've had it for a few years now. The lightbulb still works, and the salt is still in good shape. No crystallizing like I have seen in some others, despite the rougher texture. I keep it on my nightstand and use it on the dimmest setting overnight when I feel congested. It may be a figment of my imagination, but I would like to believe that this lamp is truly what helps me to wake up feeling I can breathe with a clear nose. The lamp is the only adjustment I made in my room. I swear there is a difference between how I feel in the morning following the nights I use the lamp vs the nights I don't.

I bought this for my wife for Christmas, grudgingly, thinking it was trendy nonsense, and it might well be.However, the light it puts out is the most soothing of ANY light I've ever owned.Very glad I picked a dimm-able model, as I've come to believe you REALLY need that feature.It goes from very bright, to super dim, though at times, if it's very dim, it can actually go off after a time.Too bright is anti-romantic, and the dimmer control is the nicest I've owned, and is very gradual, covers all bases.The lamp gets warm, as you'd expect from a small bulb, but does not get hot.I detect no smell, but close up, it seems to have an effect on my nostrils, neither good nor bad that I can tell, but something.We turn it on every night now, before bedtime, and it makes going to bed so much more welcoming.If it breaks I will buy another right away.I followed instructions and let it "burn in for 24 hrs" right off the bat.The air in the back bedroom that it was in seemed cleaner after that whole day.Could be imagination...but whatever the lamp does or doesn't do, it certainly is a lovely, relaxing light.I am posting some pics, although they don't do it justice, it's much better in real life.

The media could not be loaded.  I received this product to review and I instantly wanted more. You get what you paid for. A rock that taste like salt! And a light inside the dims to your preference. Each room this light adds the perfect ambience.It can be a night light to a young child.A light to read a book.Or in my case a light I can adjust to perfectly match the use of a projector without disrupting my image.I'm impressed, but mostly just pleased.

Like several comments above, I also smelled something burning one night in my office and couldn’t figure out what was the culprit for awhile. When I located the source of the problem and tried to turn off the salt lamp, I almost burned my hand by touching the dimmer/switch. As you can see from the photo, part of it was melted. Glad I was there that night. Or my office would have been on fire!

This item came and the box was completely destroyed (like seriously wasn’t even held together).The light didn’t work. We ordered new bulbs to make sure it wasn’t just a faulty bulb it had come with. The new bulbs also didn’t work.I contacted the company Brand: Himalayan Glow to let them know. There was a piece of paper in the box saying to contact them with any issues, so I did. In their very slow replies, they asked for some of info - picture of the cord, the model and my address.They finally replied back saying that if I had an American address they’d send me a new one, but because I live in Canada they won’t.So Canadian buyer beware!! If you have any issues they don’t stand behind their so called warranty.I’ve asked them why they sell on amazon.CA if they don’t stand behind their warranty and product, but I doubt they’ll do anything to make it right.Choose another brand if you live in Canada!Back to edit - still no resolution from them and they are no longer replying to my emails. Disgusted by their lack of assistance.

First one we bought was so good that we ended up buying another not so long after. The first was true to the size and weight advertised, looks the part, is genuine stuff and gives a real cozy feel to any room in the house.The second we received however was much smaller. When I weighed and checked with a ruler I found it actually matched the cheaper spec rock, despite being in the correct box. Was a bit miffed because I was trying to get a symmetrical look with both rocks in one room and it looked ridiculously different. Sent back and swapped for a third rock. This one is a better size and doesn't look so odd, but still slightly smaller and is still not true to the spec given on the page of the 1002 model?Not sending back a third time, but I think you might be better placed saving a fiver and buying the 1001 model as the 1002 seems to be the same just lately.Also, bulb on latest one lasted only minutes. Perhaps worth letting it stand a while after arriving. New bulb in... And all good. Can't emphasize how great they are though. If the size issue was ironed out a bit, I'd give 5 star.PS. Ensure you buy a dimmable bulb.

I'm pretty happy with my salt lamp. It was fairly expensive but I think I received a good quality one. It has a dimmer switch, it is medium sized and darkish pink ( so glows a pinky orange) and apparently has a neem wood base. I have noticed the therapeutic benefits and also find having it on very relaxing. Recommended :)

Have a much bigger one which is attractive, this one is an ugly lump and the bulb went after a fortnight, so need to buy another, only time will tell if the bulb was naff or this lump of salt gets through bulbs like I can get through chocolate. My other larger , much larger salt lamp is just on its second bulb after 4 years

Contacted amazon about bulb blowing on start up they wanted me to return it and had no information to contact seller, decided to order my own bulbs as I didn't want my carbon footprint to be increased by sending back a 3kg object when all i needed was a new bulb, I was very careful not touch bulb but it still blew as soon as I switched it on.
