Paula Deen's My First Cookbook

A great kids cookbook
All of her recent shortcomings aside, Paul Deen's kids cookbook is a winner in our house (we bought it last Christmas before all of this summer's problems). We looked at a number of kids cookbooks before settling on this one for our seven year old daughter who has begun expressing an interest in learning her way around the kitchen. With a little bit of help she's been able to make several of these recipes. The instructions are clear and the illustrations are good. We like that it is spiral bound so it will lay flat on the counter. It is also good because is spells out all the ingredients AND all the utensils needed for each recipe. If you have a budding cook, this is a great first cookbook.

Oh my gosh ya'll
I had this cookbook pre-ordered because I LOVE all things Paula and my kids love to cook with me. I love the younger days pictures of Paula and her boys and the recipes bring me back to my own childhood, cooking with my own mom. The recipes in this book are easy, kid friendly, fun, and just plain good! Thanks so much Paula for this wonderful newest edition to my Paula Deen library! My kids and I will have such a great autumn cooking away in this wonderful cookbook!By the way, there are a few fun non-food recipes in here too. If you have kids and you love Paula you have to get this cookbook.

Paula is Good for Any Age at Anytime!
I purchased this recipe book and another (for grown ups) as my sign of approval of this wonderful person. I have watched this wonderful lady for years and I love her from my heart. As Ina has said, "cooking is hard." I believe this too. So it is good to begin young and to form good cooking and baking habits. So get this recipe book for a grandchild, boy or girl, or for your own child. It will be like learning to cook from your mother's or grandmother's elbow. . .as I did as a child. I just love my grandmother's kitchen. It was from her that I learned, at five years old, how to make the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. Also, cooking can be a wonderful way for families to share and enjoy each other's company. If you want your child or grandchild to learn to cook let Paula Dean help you with this very good book!

She loved it!
I'm giving this review a 5 star rating based on the reaction of our 8-year-old granddaughter when she opened it for Christmas. She and her mother both squealed with delight when they saw it was Paula Deen and immediately began flipping through the pages and picking which recipes they were going to try first. They were even excited about the craft recipes at the back of the book. I'm hoping this will be a keepsake for her and something she will treasure for a lifetime. I especially like that the book is spiral bound and it explains cooking terms and shows pictures of the utensils.

Awesome cookbook
I accidently ordered 2 of these cookbooks..who knows how these things happen?? When I received the order I was faced with mailing the extra book & all that hassle which I didn't really need at that point. A day or two later I had my quilting ladies over for a day of quilting & chatting (solving the problems of the world, etc.), & happened to mention this wonderful cookbook that I had seen at Lowes & purchased online from you. I said something about needing to return the extra one & brought it out for all to see. Well..that caused quite a stir, as most of the ladies wanted to buy it from me!! We practicly had to draw straws to keep peace!! It is a wonderful, colorful, practical cookbook that I am sure my grandaughter Rachel(age 9) will ejoy, both when I am visiting her in Houston & when she & her Mother get together in the kitchen! I wouldn't be surprised if some of my friends have't already bought it for their grandkids. Thank you!

Love this product
The book did have a written note to the person that use to own it. I had to rip it out to give it to my Granddaughter.

Perfect for the younger cook...
This is the perfect cookbook for younger children (4-12). Not only does it have recipes that are designed with pictured directions, but the recipes are kid friendly, healthy and delicious! There is a glossary of cooking terms, measurement guidelines, do's & don'ts in the kitchen and because of the spiral binding, is easy to use on a counter. My grand daughter (3.5) had fun just looking through the pictures. Combine this cookbook with some smaller cooking tools and an apron and you have the perfect beginner set.

Best cookbook for Children!
This book was a gift to my granddaughter. A retired home economics teacher sent it to her. The teacher said that it was "absolutely the best cookbook for children to use to begin cooking". Every cooking term has a drawing along with the explanation/definition. The pictures are all in color. The recipe shows which utensils, bowls, cooking tools you will need. It tells the child when he/she will need an adult's help. The recipes are for food items that children will eat. And it's Paula Deen, Y'All!!! What's not to like? My granddaughter likes using the cookbook. I bought a copy to keep at my house so it will be here when she comes to see me. Buy one for your children. You will like it and they will, too!

Great cookbook for children!
My 8yo LOVES this cookbook. It’s written in a way that she can read and understand the recipes on her own.The tips and extras like manners and table setting is a great addition. She is learning so much more than just how to make a particular recipe. She has made 4 recipes already! French toast is a bit heavy on the sugar so we made some adjustments there. But overall a great first cookbook for children that love to cook.

Great cookbook!
I bought two of these for my grandkids and I've chosen a recipe for them to start with. I'll include the ingredients so they can get started right away.
