Review: Beware of fitting complexity, but a beautiful reel - As other reviewers have said, using this reel in the UK is a bit tricky, because US and UK standards for threads are not the same. The lead hose connects to my faucet ok, but connecting the hose onto the reel needs an adapter. The fitting you need is a 3/4" GHT female one. After a bit of trial and error, I bought a 3/4" GHT female to Hozelock adapter from another online marketplace. I thought that would be perfect, except it was female Hozelock, and I needed male Hozelock, so then I also needed a female-to-female Hozelock connector. With both of those, things are working well. I would have deducted more stars, except the reel is very attractive and the reeling action works beautifully. Review: be careful, not all fittings are the same or work... - I got the swivel reel in the UK, the lead hose that comes with it screws onto the reels male fitting no problem, but now I want to fit my long hose to it, and frankly I have tried every brass and non brass 3/4 tsp threaded hose tail or fitting possible, and non of them screw onto the fitting, it seems to me like the machining on it is either dodgy or a bizarre size I cannot quite seem to understand. a very expensive reel that so far in over a month of trying different parts from various stores and online outlets, spending yet more money I am unable to use. With the "Single arm" model the mounting plate fits perfectly on a 4x4 post. I would say it's about 3.5" wide. and has holes for 3 screws. **Q: Would this hose reel be difficult for a woman to turn when all or most of the hose is on it?** A: No. It turns easily when winding the hose back on. Rotating the direction of the wheel is a little tricky, but easy when you figure out how the stop works. Nothing about this device requires great strength. **Q: can the handle go on either side?** A: I just called Liberty Garden products and they say NO you CANNOT reverse the handle on the rotating wheels. You also CANNOT reverse the direction of the spool-spigot (they call it the elbow). Their limited design-think said, wow!- let's make it rotate 360 so you can use it all ways! NOT! This is a wall mount, so guess what? Only 180 degress are usable!! I just bought one anyway (model 714) and also a U-joint with hose-fittings to "fix" their problem. **Q: I would like to replace a broken hose reel and would like to use the same holes. The conenctor on the reel itself was faulty with both. Its 3/4 inch but is mis-threaded and will not accept a bush no matter how many time i tried. tried every size/shape brass connector and couldnt get any to join. The connectors on the connector hose (from reel to tap) were fine - if a little flimsy - but the thread on the reel itself is faulty. took it to HPS and Screwfix and everyone agreed that the threading is faulty. Tried to contatct liberty gardens and got no response.
