Great cards for learning Yoga
These are great cards to learn yoga on your own. I do wish they were larger as I have to look really hard to read them. They are nice quality and will last as long as you need them to. They are clear and concise in their description of each pose. I am 58 and my vision has changed recently due to a torn retina, otherwise I would have kept these cards. I just need something a little larger in print. I think most people will find them large enough and of great use.

Just what I needed
I bought these cards to help me create a home practice tailored to my needs, in addition to my weekly workout with a certified yoga teacher. I'm probably an advanced beginner, and needed something to remind me of the poses and sequences when I'm at home.Neither books nor videos worked for me, but these cards are perfect. I've created both 30 and 60 minute sessions, starting with Workout Labs' recommended Dynamic Warm-up Sequence and ending in Savasana. The drawings on each card remind me of the basic technique, with more detailed instruction on the back when I need it. I set out my preset sequence for the day in three or four rows at the head of my mat, adding or subtracting individual cards depending on my needs at the moment. Then I work through a practice in an uninterrupted flow just as I would in a yoga studio. The cards are big enough to refer to while moving. The basic deck has all the poses I learned when just starting out: Cat/Cow, Child's Pose, Downward Facing Dog, Plank Flow, Cobra, UpDog, Chair, Warrior I, II and III, spinal twists, forward bends and more. It also has 5 sequences if you do not want to make your own, and instructions for breathing and mediation. That would've been plenty for me, but I also wanted the Sun Salutations in Yoga Cards II, so I ordered both decks.Glad I ordered the second deck: That one has Pigeon, Reclining Bound Angle, Happy Baby as well as more sequences and advice on how to build a balances sequence. It also has a handstand that I will never do, but there are others I might learn. Two decks was pricey for me, but I have been very happy to have both of them since I'm not quite an intermediate, but getting there. Still, if two is just too much, please know that you will be able to create a good basic practice for yourself with just one set.

Great for intermediate or above NOT FOR BEGINNERS
I have been using these cards whenever I can't make it to a studio and in the mornings to help me wake up.Pros:Easy to create your own sequence.Great suggested sequences.Clear images and most descriptions are easy to follow if you have yoga experience. Many challenging posesCons:Typos on some cards. Many poses and descriptions are too advanced for beginning students. No way you should be doing headstands on your own if you have no yoga experience. Even some of the easier poses are dangerous if you don't know how to do them. Many cards do not list modifications or substitutions. Again- beginners wont know what to do if a pose is too difficult.I want more cards! Maybe an extension pack?Overall I love these cards and they help guide my practice. I would never recommend them for a beginner. There are so many yoga studios with specials for beginning students. 30$ for two weeks or donation based in large cities. If you can't afford it or can't get there, try out some free yoga videos on YouTube (search for beginning yoga).

A little pricey but....they are awesome
I'm new to yoga but have quickly become addicted so I needed something to learn with and to also practice on my own when I'm not at the studio. I just got these cards and have not actually used them yet but have looked through and read all of them pretty thoroughly and I must say that I'm impressed with the detail that was put into each of these cards. First of all they are color coded by type of pose i.e. "inversion/standing/warm up" etc. They clearly show how to properly do the pose with a drawing on the front and on the backside are detailed instructions on how to get into the pose and how to breathe in each pose. Also on the back it gives a little list on the benefits and the parts of your body being stimulated as well as disclaimers that if you have certain medical conditions you should avoid the pose. I also really like that each card has the Sanskrit name shown under the English name. Each card is numbered and there are 5 cards in the deck that give you sequences based on what type of yoga you want to do, like "wake up/mental clarity and weight loss" (I don't have the cards on me otherwise I would be more specific) but it also gives you a two sided blank card where you can write in dry erase marker your own sequence. The cards are actually plastic instead of what I expected which was coated cardboard, so that's neat-o. There does seem to be a wide range of poses, certainly all of the basic poses with a few that I have not learned yet but also a few that I like that aren't included in the deck. All in all, I'm very happy with these, I think they will give me the boost I need to start practicing on my own

Love that it tells you what the poses are good for... how it helps your body.

Great cards, good quality, good information. Have a few improvement suggestions though :)
These are great cards and are quality made to last. The surface is coated with plastic which makes them more durable. I have been taking yoga for a few years and am getting my certification soon, so I wanted to have some help with piecing together yoga flows in a visual manner. This will be perfect for that. They even have some suggested flows for you to start with which is nice. They also describe the move, what muscles it works, and what body parts can benefit. They are also divided up by area of focus with colored headers. For improvement suggestions, I wish there was a ring attaching them all that you could open/close to remove/add cards. This would be easier than trying to put them all back in the box each time. However, I can easily do that with a hole punch and binder ring myself if it becomes necessary. Also, an expansion pack of blank cards so we could add our own moves as needed. There are some yoga poses missing that I use a lot. I plan to make a template and add my own cards eventually.
