Let me tell you a story.....
I'm gonna warn anyone who might read this, that it's probably gonna sound like I'm insane. But I've had a really bad night, followed by a morning that was worse. The first time I even heard the word 'karambit' was 1994, when I was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. If you are pretty good at research, and you can find out who Support Branch Det C. was, I feel pretty confident you'll be surprised by who we worked for.Det B was in Berlin, but closed not long after the Closing of Checkpoint Charlie.....Anyway....I had a point I was gonna make, but totally spaced it out. There were many DOD and 'State Dept' civilians that worked there, and one of them was a guy that made karambits for all of us MPs, and then trained us on them. I ain't gonna lie....it was f'ing AWESOME!Sadly, I lost that one (which I kept on me for like 12 years), and picked up an occasional one here and there. They were okay....Nothing special....Man....Let me condense this.....I went out on a limb and rolled the dice with the rave reciews this beauty was getting, and dropped the $ for it. I'm not even sure how to word this, because so much is going to sound like a cliche. So, I'll close this by saying, this is BY FAR the finest knife I've ever held (as far as self defense blades go...I bushcraft and have a lot of knives)It's as if it was made specifically for me. This thing is PURE PERFECTION!The sheath is perfect.....I don't know what else to say.Anyone that wouldn't give this 5 stars probably shouldn't have one.

Sheath design is not practical.. please read.
UPDATE: when worn on the belt.. if the knife is pushed down it will unclip itself from the molded Kydex sheath and fall to the ground (being that gravity works against the design of the sheath).. it does this when I bend over and my torso hits it.. and When it falls to the floor it will announce to everyone that you just dropped a knife in public.. my advice is to buy a fox folder if you want to carry a karambit.. they are made by the same folks in Italy.Still a good knife.. but very impractical. There are pros and cons to everything so here you go.Pros: light weight, kydex sheath fits knife perfectly, belt clip is quality, good steel, fits a large hand comfortably, the point on the knife is just like a claw it rips through stuff, easily concealed.Cons: the grind on the blade is a wedge which makes sharpening harder. It does dull kinda easy in my opinion. kydex is good but you can dull your knife when pulling it out if you aren’t careful. If you have extra large hands your little finger will be on the blade..So In conclusion the knife will do well as a personal protection weapon or back up depending on you situation. It would do great damage to flesh. Just don’t expect a razor blade or for it to stay factory sharp after some light cutting. That being said the needle like tip and the leverage you gain easily make up for it not being super sharp. If you have xtra large hands move up to a fox folding karambit

Already my new favorite EDC! And I just got it!
My wife got me this as a Christmas gift. I’ve been known to be a big knife junkie for EDC because I grew up in construction and my knife was a tool, but having spent the last 12 years working in an office Environment, my tool needs have changed and I’ve downsized. It’s actually Very nice not carrying the extra weight around. This knife is light but fits well in my hand. Today I use my EDC mainly to open blueprints, boxes and various containers and such. This knife appears excellent for that purpose and I can still rely on it as a self defense tool if it’s ever needed. Ive researched and read that the steel used in making this knife is of good quality and takes and holds a fine edge very well. Plus it’s easily concealed being a neck knife and takes up no pocket space at all. My favorite larger knives will Sometimes hit my car keys and press the alarm button on my key fob Which I hate and that’s no longer going to be an issue obviously. Overall, my first impressions are that this is an excellent Knife in my humble opinion. I look forward to putting it to the test. Thank you Santa!

Hands down, a must buy
The Bastinelli Pika fixed blade karambit is an absolute beauty. The curves and angles will make your wife jealous. The Blade comes razor sharp and even though I haven’t tested it on raw meat like others have I trust it will do just fine. The N690CO Steel is amazingly strong and will not bend or snap given the knife being so thin. My only purpose for purchasing this knife is to have a deadly, small and concealable weapon I can carry with me day to day in case my life or those around me are in danger or if I’m attacked by some wild animal. I was timid at first given the hefty price tag but once you grasp this Karambit around your fingers you’ll instantly know that this is Superb quality engineered to damn near perfection. The sheath is perfect. The Karambit does not rattle or will you be scared it falling out.I am going to purchase the practice version at dougmarcaida.com so I won’t cut my self.

Karambits can be a pain to sharpen
This blade, as do all karambits, has a very pronounced curve. Unless you have some sort of clamp-on sharpening guide, such as a Lansky, which has narrow stones. You need pretty good knife sharpening skills to keep it sharp. This is a charactistic of karambits, in general, and small karambits, in particular.UPDATE: I started having trouble with the knife popping out of the sheath until I noticed that if you push the knife down into the sheath until it feels like it's in, you can still push the knife in about another 1/8 inch. When you give the knife that extra, firm push, it stays in the sheath much more solidly.

I like better then my Dox
I like this knife a lot. I carry a karambit daily now this is by farMy favorite EDC protection knife along with a regular folder for boxes etc....if the karambit comes out its gonna be bloody. As a wise an once said the bladeIs meant to be felt not seen....I would buy again for sure...only thing I can say maybe negative is I kinda wish it had a clip vs the clip on it now so tour able to clip it on like shorts etc...
