outstanding
I love mysteries and criminology, and good over evil and this one fit the bill. A must read that you can’t put down.

Silent Treatment
When Dr. Harry Corbett's wife turned up dead in the hospital, he was the prime suspect because no one else was seen visiting the room after he left to bring her a milkshake. He knew he was innocent, but how could he prove it?

Torture, Intrique, Surprises, Love (even sex), Medical Genius, HMO Conspiracy
What more could one want in escapist literature? When I got tired of learning things from fat documentaries and biographies, I often reached for a medical thriller by Dr. Robin Cook. Lately, however, I found that Dr. Cook's books were farther between and maybe not quite as great, so I was overjoyed to find this book by Dr. Michael Palmer. - A war hero good doctor vs. an ex-CIA evil doctor who now worked for an even more evil heath insurance conspiracy bend on killing their most expensive customers, insuring increased profit for their companies! - Very well written, with wild escapes, thrilling car chases ( one involving a monster RV). - And the required love scene. The Good news is that Dr. Palmer has written 17 other thrillers - some on political subjects - that I had not heard of. The Bad news is that he, himself, died suddenly last October - I'm shocked and very sorry about that - but thankful he left plenty of probably great escapism. I must read another. But first I hear Dr. Cook has a new one - "Cell", so need to check and see if Dr. Palmer really was as good.

A great medical adventure
Loved the story and how each upcoming situation was painted and the anticipation building. I eagerly looked forward to each new chapter. I am now into another of the author's books. I love medical mysteries.I appreciated the details in presenting the consequences of the administration of a drug and the struggle of the main character moving forward to clear himself.

Intense story, great characters
This book had me on the edge of my chair. I put it down several times because it was so intense...but picked it right up again of course. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I have all of his other books.

A Competent Medical Thriller by a Very Good Writer
"Silent Treatment" tells the story of a doctor who is accused of killing his wife in Intensive Care by injecting her with a drug that causes a brain hemorrhage. The murder is somehow linked to the Roundtable, a secret group of insurance agency executives, calling themselves the Roundtable, who plot ways to cut costs through questionable means, including murder. It is a competent thriller by Michael Palmer, who has penned a number of brilliant medical thrillers, but this one is a little more paint-by-numbers than many of his better works. If you're new to Michael Palmer, start with some of his other, more inspired books, starting with Extreme Measures.

Whirlwind read, but entertaining.
Last book I read lately that I could not put down until the end. I would recommend to anyone who likes medical thrillers. The scary thing? It could be true.

Doesn't flow
I skimmed about the first seventy pages and I don't know why chapter 32 was even there, I totally ignored it !! Other than this l did finish it .l have suffered the patn of a #neck and head of humerus, it really is very painful, takes months to fully recover so Harry did amazingly well to escape. !!

Excellent gripping reading
Michael Palmer's books are always brilliant and this is no exception. For medical thrillers he is streets ahead of Robin Cook (for example). Twists and turns galore. The sort of book I do not want to put down - but at the same time I do not want to finish - because then it will be finished. Just like the Lee Child books. I always make them last as long as possible. I always keep them and never throw them out. If I lend them - I ensure they are returned

good story, average editing
The author could have done a better job of organizing the content and the back story. I found the back story interrupted the pace of the story and out of tune with when I'd expect it. In places the backstory was even annoyingly long and tedious. The author would do well to not try and write a novel when he's actually wishing it to be a screenplay. I liked the story though. The ending could have been a bit less hollywood.
