Kingtiger Heavy Tank 1942β45 (New Vanguard, 1)

A definitive history of the Tiger II (King Tiger).
Especially liked the shape of the "Porsche" turret (except for the shot trap in the lower front). Many short comings of the Tiger I were addressed in King Tiger and corrected.Amazed that the turret could rotate 360^ in just 19 seconds (with the engine at 2000 RPM).Too bad that it ended up so heavy and unreliable.Could have been a game changer.-James Riegel-

Just ok.
I had high hopes since I had really enjoyed the Tiger 1 and Panther book of this series. but the King Tiger books seemed ot have alot less content. I also missed the nice detailed by-the-month description of technical running changes that the Tiger 1 book had. Also all pics in it are common over the internet. Nothing new really. But since it was not expensive it still got 3 Stars

The Binding Process has Changed
I love the factual and historical books that are printed and distributed by Osprey Publishing. That being said, I do not like the change in their binding process. I have many older publications by Osprey Publishing. They have the pages folded and sewn to provide book quality binding.Unfortunately, things have changed. They now cut the pages and hold them together with glue. After a few reading the pages start falling out. I am very disappointed. I will no longer order Osprey Publishing books sight unseen. I need to inspect them to see if they have the newer binding and, if they do, I will NOT buy their book.

Neat artwork and packed with information
A very good book from osprey. Its packed with information despite being only 48pages, has very fine and neat coloured plates and also has some valuable information on the tiger specs.(+)- Colour plates- Detailed information given on the various parts of the tank: transmission, cooling, deep fording techniques, etc.- Specs and performance tables which gives you a range of Tiger II vs others tanks likely outcome (e.g. at which range a Churchill could take a tiger on the side, etc.)- Very detailed specs e.g. petrol comsumption ( 500 l of benzin per 100km for the Tiger II !)- Probably one of the best tank cut/away section I have seen in an osprey book. Its clear and very detailed. Although the folding of the page in the middle ruins a bit everything.(-)- Description of the Tiger II in operation which is a bit dull and not very informative in the end- No lively battle account or extract of tanker journal, etc.- The start of the book where the author explains at lengths why this or this turret was chosen. Found it unclear and perhaps not the place in such a book for such detailed information.Overall a decent purchase and overall good presentation/introduction to the Tiger II King Tiger Heavy Tank

Excellent
Another excellent Osprey WWII armoured fighting vehicle book. This one provides an overview of the German Tiger II tank , sometimes known as the King Tiger. Well illustrated with period black and white photos and modern colour plates this book is both interesting and informative. Highly recommended.
