The Berenstain Bears' Pet Rescue

I have always been a huge fan of the Berenstein Bears since I was a little girl and have passed the love on to our children. When I saw this book was coming out, I pre-ordered it right away. We foster orphan kittens for local rescues (this means that I raise orphaned kittens from as young as a few days old). I knew I needed this book in our collection. It is a great way to show and teach children about why its so important to adopt pets from a rescue or shelter. Our children clearly know and see this side of life for animals. They loved how the story was written. And have read it every day since we got it. If you can't adopt, donate. Thank you Mike!

This is a useful book to expose kids to the need for animal rescue shelters and provides guidance on how to approach and get to know animals that have likely been mistreated. Gentle and careful as the animals get used to you. For kids, this is a valuable lesson and the book explains at a level that’s age-appropriate. However, the story lacks the excitement of a conflict; it’s kind of fun when the cubs get into some kind of trouble and that’s missing here. This makes it kind of bland for adults; perhaps it’s more interesting for youngsters as it explains what animal rescues are all about.

All of the Berenstain Bears books that I've collected over the years has shown good values for children, and my grandchildren enjoy reading them to me, or me to them.

Our whole family loves Berenstain Bears' books. This one is really good to read to your child as it explains the importance of adopting animals from shelters and that you have to be patient with them because they are learning to trust again.When reading I was making parallels with our own rescue dog. Very sweet book!

This reads like one of the original Berenstain Bears books. We enjoyed the pictures and the sweet story. This book has a good message that started a family discussion at our house about shelters, breeding, and taking care of animals. This isn't just about dogs but includes a variety of pets.

This was a gift to my grandson, age 7. He has a sister who is 14 months old and another baby sister on the way. He and I call them, Brother, Sister, and Honey. My baby granddaughter has been getting very excited when we pull out a book for her since she was 11probably 6 to 8 months old. Now, she calls every person in books, "baby."

It's a good book that stresses the importance of adopting pets from a shelter. It explains that they've been through a lot and need extra special love and care. It's a very cute book. I wish it would have talked a bit about taking care of the pet when you get it home though; like feeding, walking, bathing, etc.

Just ok. My kids love the berenstain bears but the newer stories are lacking in my opinion. Just not the same thought put into them it seems.
