Works great on spirit airlines!
This backpack is the perfect size for the spirit airlines free personal item. I was able to barely fit a 17" laptop and clothes and many other things. I went to the spirit airlines gate at the airport up to the metal bag size thing and this backpack fit perfectly in it even with all the things I stuffed into it. This backpack saved me over $40 in bag fees on 1 trip alone. It is very high quality. I don't normally write reviews but this bag was perfect for my last trip and I am very happy with it.

CrossLandy - OK for money but wish I'd spent and gotten more
PRO:- Good price- sturdily built- pockets on outside for water bottle, umbrella- fairly comfortable with nice wide straps & a nicely padded back- seems highly water resistant, although have not tried it for long periods in pelting rain- nice padded inner pocket for ipad, etc.CON:- Zipper for middle pocket, which holds pens, glasses, etc., only goes in one direction. There should be two so you don't have to open it with the risk of things falling out because the whole side is open.- Small front pocket is useless because it is small and shallow. I don't know what you'd other putting in there. I lost my keys putting them in cause couldn't close zipper all the way and they fell out.- Side cinch straps get in way of zipper for main pocket, so that you have to dig around to retrieve when zipper head is on side, which usually happens, even when I try to bring both heads up to the top of slightly off to the side. Would prefer elastic.- Dangling cinch straps on body straps get caught in things - not the streamlined pack you need for the city.- heavy

Solid Bag just not for me
A decent bag, especially for the price. Their are some functionality things to this bag that don't meet my specific needs of a computer travel bag.- Hideaway side cup pocket, good idea bad design, could've been a little taller to truly secure drink containers- Built in ID label opposite side of the hideaway cup holder, great to have, could've been placed somewhere else. would like to see another hideaway cup holder on this side.- No sleeve or specific way to attach this bag to your roller luggage handle.- Larger compartment in the middle, would be better in the back by the shoulder straps.- Cell phone pocket is small, not meant for smart phones.- The extender, zipper that goes all the way around, not really functional. Maybe 1/2 inch of extra space. Should've just made the large compartment 1/2 thicker.- Would've liked for there to be a sunglasses pocket.-

Wasted space
I bought this bag for my son because it is the exact dimensions of the Spirit Airlines free personal item. That being said, there is actually very little free space in the bag due to the bulk of the material. There is a very thick pad where a laptop would go that takes up at least 1.5 inches of space. Then there is several more thinner dividers, and thick pockets that take up yet even more space. So this is a great bag for what it is, a school bag. Do not get this if you intend to use it as a travel bag for spirit airlines, unless you are going on a overnight trip with very little stuff to bring along.

Best laptop bag you will ever find!
ABSOLITELY LOVE THIS BAG!!!! I can't express how great this bag is. It's durable, well made and one of the best bags I've ever owned. The laptop slot has all soft fuzzy things in there to support it, there are more pockets I find each time I use it. Its nice a and light. Even my 17.3" laptop fits it!! I look forward to using this bag for a long long time! I may buy an extra for my husband now.

Well padded, but too much going on
Mixed opinion, mostly based on personal preference. For me, it was a no-go. At first lift, the backpack was slightly heavy (not like a brick, but not lightweight). The backpack is extremely well-padded. Pads everywhere, inside and out. There are buckles and straps and pockets everywhere too. Some straps made sense (like the chest strap), but others (like the ones on the side) seemed frivolous, prone to catching things, and in the way. Mostly, all the strapping just dangled about. Had I kept it (I returned it), I would have cut some of the straps off (or at least shortened them). And then then pockets and compartments!, there are 16 in all. Organization is great, but I really don't need 5 small pockets for 5 credit cards, 2 pockets for 2 pens, etc, right? The front outer pocket was larger on the inside than the opening, thus it was like reaching into a mason jar. Further, the main compartment doesn't open easily/fully when the side straps on clasped (why are these side straps here again?). Finally, the shape of the shoulder straps combined with the dangling straps made this go over the shoulder not-so-smoothly. One wants something to throw on and slip off, but with the curve and the dangles it does not. All in all, just too much going on with this pack. Might be right for others, but not for me..
