GREAT FUSION OF SOUNDS BUT MIXED ERRATICALLY
GREAT FUSION OF SOUNDS BUT MIXED ERRATICALLY! This is a very distinctive sound of the indicative quality and originality of Sawhney's tunes remixed with other Asian inspired and often Nu-Jazz touches. Also this has chilled house and latin inspired influences and laid back beats, but, it has no consistency. The tempo changes very often and there is not much mixing. Just dropping tracks in. Now, I believe that not all mixes have to be super gelled as long as they have a consistent flow or journey, so it is a bit of a let down in that way. So, GREAT TUNES, POOR APPLICATION.

A Pleasant But Inconsistent Mix
This FabricLive is mixed by a legend of modern fusion music. Nitin Sawhneyhas released great albums, namely Beyond Skin, Displacing The Priest andhis most recent Human. To my knowledge this FabricLive is his secondcompilation to date. And it contains some excellent tracks... Koop'sjazzy and atmospheric Relaxin' At Club F****n, which opens this FabricLiveand is mixed somehow abruptly with Eastern Eyes; Nitin's own classicHomelands in two different versions - both excellent; 4 Hero's remix ofLong; Jazzanova's excellent remix of We Who Are Not As Others. However, something that these tracks have in common is that they are well known andcan be found in numerous compilations. Another weakness is that the mixingis not seamless with most transitions being done by simply fading out thecurrent track and fading in the next. Previous FabricLive compilationsoffer outstanding mixing by the likes of DJ Spinbad, J Majik, Plump DJ'setc. Personally, I find the second half of the mix to be the mostinteresting. There is a transition from Nu-Jazz/Broken Beat to Drum n Bassand in the end, Nitin slows the tempo, by throwing his own Beyond Skin andHymn 2 by downtempo master Craig Armstrong. It is definitely a goodeffort, but when compared to previous FabricLive sets (special mentiongoes to James Lavelle, John Peel, Plump DJ's, Jacques Lu Cont, J Majic, DJSpinabad), Nitin Sawhney's mix shows its weaknesses.

Beautiful
As a DJ mix series, Fabric has been either AMAZING or OK!Fabric has produced some magnificent CD's using great DJ/ Producer who really express what they stand for such as John Peel/ Jacques Lu Cont/ Babby Mammoth, Beige & Solid Doctor/ Aim/ Caspa & Rusko/ Marcus Intalex/ Omar S/ Robert Hood/ Tiefschwarz/ Swayzak and Nitin Sawhney. This is a chilled and beautifully crafted mix of very Jazz influenced House, Mellow Drum & Bass "Jungle as I knew it yrs ago!" and Breaks on the Ambient side.Being a Nitin Sawhney mix he has put in a great dose of Indian music which adds a great personal touch, I am not religious but religion is a very personal thing and can dictate a persons very pace of life.I take it Nitin Sawhney is a Hindu which is a very peaceful religion which is really present in this mix.Check it out and have an open mind!!!

Brilliant, a master piece!
Nitin Sawhney was asked to release a set of tunes for the Fabric Live compilation to reflect british asian contemporary music today and what a fabulous choice he's made in the artists and tracks chosen for Fabric Live 15. This is a great dance album full of the best tunes in the contemporary asian underground/clubbing scenen today. I was lucky enough to attend the launch of this at Fabric in April 2004 - what a great party it was! Nitin is a great representation of asian cool and asian fusion. My favourite track on this album has to be track 12 - Visionary Underground - Freedom a great mix of hard and calssical beats making one of the best dance tunes I have heard for a long time!Well done to Fabric and Nitin for a great album!

average from a normally reliable source of good tunes
I was very disappointed with this compilation. I have bought albums from Nitin Sawhney and Fabic Live before and found this very average compared to what I have purchased before.
