I like them
Some of the reviews really trash these sneaks, but i like them. They fir well, have a good feel, and seem like theyre chock full of that merrell quality ( thats found in Vietnam, or wherever these are made). The toe box is roomy, they have more substance and support than the vapor glove series, and look good. Personally, id appreciate just solid colors but these are mostly my gym sneaks so on the grand scale, it immaterial. Im a fan, so ipl continue to buy them ans my barefoot option.

Perfect minimalist shoe with slight arch support
I have worn these for 4 weeks now and busted in 16 miles during Ragnar team race. These shoes held up so well. I ran in the arizona desert the entire time running over jagged rocks and mud and dirt. I didn’t feel any pain from pointy rocks when running over them.My only gripe is where the bottom rubber tread meets the front of the shoe, it is separating. I would’ve imagined this happening at about 100 miles.Tie box is perfect. These shows run large so I had to order a half size smaller than my normal shoes for the right fit. If you have had Merrell trail gloves before stick with the size before. I wasn’t a fan of the arch but I was able to feel normal after a while.

Chiropractor's Take
I took a deep dive to find the right shoe. I am a 50yr old Chiro woth 20+ years of experience. I can tell you that this shoe is great for those who want a roomy and flexible shoe that also protects and supports. If you want super minimalist then go with the Merrell Vapors. I think the support in these shoes are good for most people. There are so many people with arch issues related to poor biomechanics from living the modern life. These shoes have just enough support to guide your stance and gait into an optimal position. I understand why Merrell did this. Shoes won't fix all your foot problems. Plus the average person does not have the time, patience and comprehension to deal with their dysfunctional gait patterns in a "bare-foot" shoe. These have plenty of toe box width for the average foot but probably not for hobbit feet. I would size up and then tighten the heel cup if this is you. The zero drop feature is weird at 1st but I think it's important to gradually get used to any new shoe by wearing it sparingly at 1st. I personally like these and I get enough nueral feedback from the thinner soles and flexible casing to build the ankle and foot stability.

Merrell has best running shoes
Merrell has the best running shoes, especially if you prefer a low profile (barefoot) style. These ones have a bit more support so they are better and last longer on hard surface roads. Vibram sole is the key to there success.

What can I say? I like these shoes.
I don't know how many pair of Merrell Trail Gloves I've bought but it's a lot. I prefer as little shoe around my foot as possible and this fits the bill nicely. My only gripe is that the soles wear out soooo fast but I wear them every day for at least six months at a time, until I wear a hole through the bottom, then I buy another pair.

Comfortable to wear, larger toe box, More rigid soles than previous models.
Pros:Light weight, thin sole: The reason i buy, I love running semi-barefoot and this is why i love itLarger toe Box: The toe box is improved from the last one, doesnt sacrifice grip or traction for me.Stylish: I love the color scheme, i picked blue and grey.Reinforced section connecting sole to shoe: This seems stronger than previous versions. My last 3 trail gloves i owned my foot rubbed right through the fabric at the knuckle of my big toe. So far i havent noticed any wear (will update if this problem re-occurs.)Cons:Changing shape and design again: I'm habitual, I want one set of shoes that work and just keep sending me copiesmore rigid sole than previous models: I buy these because it feels like im running barefoot. But this version seems a little more supported, which for me; is the opposite of what i want. I just want protection and traction for my feet. that way my toes, calves and legs are doing all of the work.My Use: I am not a daily runner, I might run 2-4 miles a week. I use these shoes for casual wear, work(when i can), and running on pavement or light dirt pathways. I have been using Merrel Minimalist shoes since 2011. My only complaint is they discontinue older models and i have to keep changing shoe types when i'm comfortable with a design. I will note previous model issues since these are still in the early stages of ownership.

Great Sneaker
I loved these sneakers very much. However, there was a manufacturer defect: a couple spots on the toes of both sneaker, the sole was slightly separated from shoe). Seller promptly offered a full refund because they unfortunately did not have any more sneakers in my size to exchange. Hoping I can find my size again!

Good trail shoe for people with high arches - would not use it on extremely rocky trail
I started running again after long time away from the sport and my old Merrell barefoot shoes (4yo but used mostly for walking) would not last very long anymore if subjected to daily runs so I decided to invest in new Merrells. I like their shoes because I have wide feed with extremely high arches and it is hard for me to find shoes that fit. Also the weak point for me in every sport shoe I ever bought is padding at the back of the heel. In any other brand they pad too much and I typically rip that area to shreds in 6 months - Merrells are one brand for which it rarely happens - especially with barefoot shoes with low padding. First impression with Trail Glove 5 was that it was slightly too big (I wear size 11 and bought the same size) but then I realize that I need to be more careful lacing them - then they start "hugging" foot much better. They fit "like a glove" from day one.I run mostly on a trail through the woods - some exposed roots and few rocky areas and they do fine - amount of padding is about right. Soles have good grip too. If I was using them for very rocky terrain I would probably find another pair with slightly thicker soles.Update after 6 weeks. I usually cover 4-6 miles on trail or pavement. So far very light running and a lot of fast walking. I think that I may hit the durability issue a bit earlier than expected - since soles show some signs of wear. Other than that - no issues.

Very comfy, a bit slippy.
These are very comfy, light as a feather. You hardly know you've got them on. Quality seems good. Very good for driving in and good on most surfaces. I have noticed they are very slippy on some surfaces, that's the only reason that I gave them 4 stars instead of 5. Would buy again.

Go a size up, they're comfortable, but narrow even for Merrells.
I've had these for a couple of years now and bought after a pair of New Balance Minimus wore out. They're fairly robust, but some of the tread has started to peel away - more aesthetic than performance. A criticism is that they are still quite narrow and come up slight small. When doing faster or longer runs they end up creating discomfort in my toes, which strike the end of the shoe.
