Spyderco 400 Square Ceramic Sharpening Files for Sharpening Small Detailed Tools

I purchased this slip stone to remove burs from the inside of my V gouges, which it does well. Then I decided to try it on my knives whose edges had rounded after much stropping. WOW what shock. This stone quickly removing the round and left a finely polished edge. After 5 strokes on each side of green compound my knives were amazingly sharp. I feel this improvement in sharpening was also due to how I sharpened the knife. In one hand I held the knife, I layer the rounded portion of the stone perpendicular to the blade then lifted it just a few degrees. Then I basically wiped the stone from the front to the back of the blade in each side maybe 10-12 times. The stone cut the steel with little pressure and left an almost polished edge that was extremely sharp which stropping improved even more. I can say that when I wear this stone down I will get another

There isn't much to say here. It's a small, quality ultra fine sharpening stone. It'll last for ages if you take care of it. It has worked perfectly to polish metal parts and for trigger components in things that go bang. It's small, but does exactly what I need it to.

I'm a tool & die maker, so I work with hardened tool steel up to 62 .. These are great for deburring tooling I've made that only require a small break-edge. They keep their shape and leave a great finish. The leather case is a bonus.

I am always afraid I am going to break these when I use them but they are pretty tough and I doubt I could snap them without trying hard to do so and a swipe or two from a Mr clean eraser removes all signs of use no matter what kinda metal they were used on. And not all ceramic sticks are the same quality, and these are super high quality and work quickly.

I purchased this file set to perform some fine tuning on a trigger job. The files all appear to be perfectly square and cut consistently across their surfaces. They are easy to handle and just as easy to clean with some warm soapy water. I could not give it a full five stars since the square file had a small bump (about 1/3 the size of a sesame seed) on one of the four faces, which could have damaged parts had I not noticed it right away. This is a great ceramic file and performed just as I had hoped!

Very decent set of 1/4 inch ish size stones , they put a real nice polish finish on a small stainless steel job that I did . Nice set , nice leather pouch , good quality . I would buy again .

Great set of stones for working metals. The different shapes fit most needs you'll have. They clean up fairly easily.

I've used these honing rods many times in the past six months or so to fine tune the edge on chisels/gouges of all kinds (including very small veiners and macaroni blades- almost impossible to sharpen without this set), a few adzes, crooked knives and pocket knives. When followed by a final pass on a leather strop, I consistantly end up with tools that are capable of excellent cutting. Will feel very comfortable using these when the time comes to sharpen kitchen knives, field dressing tools, etc. The only downside I can see to this product is that I wouldn't want to take the bare rods camping or hunting, even in the little pouch they come with, but that isn't what they are designed for, and there are other products for that. I just really like having these on hand! Anyway, they are now a permant part of my tool kit for the wood shop.
