Bullet Headlight Taillight Bike Generator Set

The only real complaint that I have about this product is the lack of an instruction sheet. It took me a little while to figure out how to mount the headlight. A larger, more easily visible tail light might also have been useful.One web page describing this product says that this is a clone of a classic British generator light set. The design of the reflector inside the headlight is pretty good, as it casts a nice, bright beam that carries moderately far and easily lights up road signs, lane markings, reflectors on the road, etc. It is not as bright as the expensive battery-powered lights that the "real" cyclists use, but it is certainly brighter than any 6V/3W light set that I have owned (and the efficacy of these lights does vary quite a bit, depending on how the reflector in the headlight focuses the light).The amount of drag that the generator creates is small enough that I don't find it objectionable. The only caveat I have found is that the positioning of the generator has to be adjusted carefully, by trial and error, so that the generator's drive wheel gets good traction on the tire sidewall and does not slip. This is especially critical when riding in wet conditions.

Given the relatively low price of this item, I found it satisfactory. It does not come with instructions, but installation is simple, just bolt it on, run a wire from the "H" lug on the generator to the headlight and a wire from the "T" lug to the taillight.The headlight has two bulbs in it with a switch. The main bulb is 12V and the smaller bulb is 6V. The small bulb is useful when moving slowly, however the rider must switch back to the main bulb when increasing speed or the small bulb will burn out.The drag of the generator when engaged is very noticeable on my one speed bike, and of course there is no light when stopped.I am happy with this item for the price, but for extended biking at night, riders would be better off with a more expensive system.

having been brought up in the uk,I am very suprised to see they still make them,I have looked all over,it came in the mail in 2 days,I had no problam putting it togeather and it works as good as i remember as a kid,the back light is a little small. you can find led bulbs that fit on line at little cost.6v for the small and 12v for the big one.

Nice Headlight/Taillight generator combo . Bulb's are a little week , But replaced with LED's , WOW what a light even at low speeds . Great light combo to get away from batteries , and any "old" school biker's will remember these from their childhood . Bullet Headlight Taillight Bike Generator Set

I recently purchased the generator/light combo and found the installation to be simple. Everything works as it should with no problems. My only concern is the eventual wear the generator spindle will put on the sidewall of my tire. Otherwise, this set works for me. Miguel S.

I think my bike is not like the typical old school bike that the generator was designed for. So I had to use a dremel to trim some of the metal to position the light. Then I had to cut some of the fender to position the generator.On the positive side, as long as this works, I don't need to buy batteries. On the negative side, it makes climbing up hills even more challenging.

Its great for the price, a little on the small side but it illuminates great!
