Go ahead and get all three books - you won't be sorry!
I read the first of this series several months ago, and re-read it a few days ago; purchased and read the second one almost immediately because I was so enthralled by the characters and situations. Yesterday I looked for this book, and found it was to be released today. I woke up around 3am and started reading it; kept at it every chance I had all day, and just a few minutes ago came to the last page. I've read other series and had a hard time waiting for the "next" one, but something about these characters made it all the more impelling to find out what's next. I can't imagine it's over at this point, but also can't imagine that #4 will be coming out very soon at all. Makes me want to seek out a good series that has at least 30 or 40 books written already so I don't have to wait for my "next" fix. Of course I can't guarantee what anyone else might like, but I found this entire series so far so completely compelling that it would be hard to imagine how anyone could NOT give it five stars - or more! Yes, each can be considered a stand-alone, but each builds on the last one and makes the experience so much richer.Bring on #4, please - soon!

Love or Anger
Zee and Jamie both lost their parents as a result of a fatal car accident. They were 14 years old, and Zee’s 18 year old brother, True, left college to come home and take care of Zee. Jamie’s Aunt Millie was wonderful, loving and supportive. She gave him a guitar and encouraged his love of music. When Jamie and some friends started a band and then headed to the west coast, Zee encouraged Jamie to follow his dream. Seven years later, one of the band members has had a fatal drug overdose, and Jamie returns to Whiskey River. I loved this book so much that I am going to reread “Whiskey River Runaway.”That is where True meets Hope. “Whiskey River Rescue” is the first in this wonderful series, and Deck and Kelsey are wonderful together. I have read this a second time also. These stories and characters pull at my heartstrings.

Just okay
I loved Whiskey River Rescue so I looked forward to Rockstar, however I was a bit disappointed. The story was far too long for such a simple "hardship" to overcome. Zee's mad at Jamie for leaving, and Jamie's depressed about something. Neither of them wanted to admit their issues to each other so the story dragged on and on. I found myself skipping a lot of the inner angsty dialogue because it all started sounding the same. I could overlook the simplicity of the problem the protagonists had to overcome because really, with Deck's backstory from Rescue having been told, how much trauma can one little Texas town truly contain? But the reason I knocked off a few stars was due to the distractions in the writing style. Long run-on sentences with (dare I say it) too much descriptiveness thrown in, put a hiccup in an otherwise smoothly written sentence. Nothing wrong with splitting a long-winded sentence into two. Also distracting were the paragraphs where I got confused as to who was speaking. The paragraph would be talking about one person, say Zee, but the quoted words in the sentence were Jamie speaking. I'd assume the quoted words were Zee talking but would find out later in the conversation it was Jamie. I did not like having to go back and re-read the passage with Jamie as the speaker in mind, because that's not how I enjoy a book. Don't get me wrong, I believe this person is a good writer which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 2. Just a little tweaking and you could be a 5 star writer, honestly. I'm going to read Whiskey River Runaway for Hope and True's story and I do recommend this series to others.

Finding the music together
Jamie and Zee had a special connection when they both lost their parents in an instant. Zee' s older brother took over her care and Jamie was taken in by his beloved aunt. As teens, they found themselves in love-a typical, hormonal, sweet kind of love. Jamie finds his passion in music and is encouraged by Zee to follow his dream. When he does, she is devastated because Jamie is too busy trying to break into the music business with his band and has no time to visit the hometown he has left and the girl he has left behind because she can't bear to leave. When Jamie unexpectedly returns after he and his band have become a sensation in the music world, Zee is angry with him. His Aunt Millie had died nearly 2 years before and besides returning for her funeral, he hadn't been back since. Can Jamie and Zee face their own demons and let go of their fears, hurt, and pain and be the couple everyone thought they were meant to be-or is it too late for them? This is a perfect, realistic story of love and the difficulty involved in trying to regain a lost relationship.

Just okay.
Liked this story, but I didn't love it like I thought I would. Why? Probably had to do with Zee's constant whinning. Poor me...it's all about me...look at me...pay attention to me....whine, whine, whine. That was enough to drive anyone crazy. All the long drawn out descriptions had me dosing off, too.Sorry. It wasn't all bad, but just not as good as I'd hoped for.

Forgiving is moving on
I really enjoyed the smooth delivery in which Justine Davis wrote this book. Whiskey River Rockstar deals with Jamie, the rockstar, and Zee, the one girl he can't return home to. Zee and Jamie are high school sweethearts who knew that one day he would leave Whiskey River to pursue his dream. Zee's own dream of a family with Jamie is lost when he leaves. When he returns after losing his words, he only can hope Zee will be forgiving in her heart. She can only hope they can finally find the happiness they both kept close.

Very Cool Story
I was thinking, as this book opened, that it moved too slowly and I feared i would get bored. And just when I was about to give up, BAM! it got super interesting! I liked the main characters but couldn't get a firm grasp on what the story was about until it became clear it would be a cleverly crafted story about Zee and Jamie. Great character building and storytelling.

Well written
When Jamie left their small town to follow his dream to be a musician it broke Zee. They had been each other's firsts and as much as she loved him she knew he deserved to do well. Seven years later he returns when one of his band members dies. She knows she's going to see him but didn't expect the haunted haggard man that arrived. She's angry, she snips and he hurts. She can't stay away though and gradually they get back together just as explosive as before only Jamie has a secret that he hasn't told her.

Okay!
This was the first book I've read by this author, and I don't know why but it took me ages to get through. I was stopping and starting so much. I liked the Texas scene, the country life, and the characters, but there was something missing for me and I can't put my finger on it. If you like a sweet read with a second chance romance then this is the book for you.

Second chance.
Jamie, the rockstar, returns to Whiskey River a broken man. Zee, his first love, who has never forgiven him for leaving for LA still reels from her feelings for him. Both have so much to learn about themselves and each other. They are fortunate to be surrounded by the love and support of their friends and family.

A nice read
Bit slower then book one and two, still enjoyable. It had balance the other books had I felt it could have ended sooner then it did . Still a happy ending and a lovely book.
