Great Case but with the usual unfortunate caveats
Before I get started, I want to get a few things out of the way related to this experience, this was a birthday gift / upgrade for a friend's PS2 that was in pretty terrible condition, and also, this is my third experience with Ghost Case over the years. Now With that being saidPROS:+ Looks great+ A full case replacement WITH fliptop for backup / swap magic purposes.+ Worked with my model of fat PS2.+ Magnetic part of flip-top worked out of the box and didn't need replaced with the original. Now here's where the more in depth review comes in.CONS:- Pieces did not fit right and or had to be altered, which equals extra time and money (for some)Right away when I was putting the fan screen in (which also houses the power insert), I noticed it did not sit right, and I could not for the life of me figure out why, because AT A GLANCE, it looked to be a solid reproduction of the original Sony piece, but upon closer inspection, I noticed that they had drilled the latch piece to pop out....but the other sides weren't made loose, so it's obstructing sitting cleanly in the case. Now this is a problem and an easy minus star because while all I had to do was take some wire cutters / strippers to it to remove it, the plastic is cheap so it didn't cleanly come out and had a very unclean white crack look to it, and honestly, for anyone who doesn't have any kind of slightly more advanced tools other than 2 different sized screw-drivers, you have to find something that is precise enough to remove it and still make it look good, which is a real pain.- The cracking of the case when screws are screwed in, screws not holding power button in place.I did a little research into other amazon reviews of similar cases before taking the plunge, so when I starting putting the new case back together, I thought I had maybe been one of the lucky ones when all of the internal screws were screwing in nicely and no cracking sounds to be had. Then, I got to the important screws, and that's when the cracking began, THANKFULLY, the only one that even moderately made a problem for the case I stopped quick enough from making look bad.BUT one I couldn't help was the power / reset button, it wouldn't seat right! I put 2 screws into that thing completely and it still wobbles ever slightly, and if I even attempted to screw in more, the sound it makes makes me afraid I might screw it in half.- The plastic was warped and will not fit rightI stated earlier that this was my third case transaction with Ghost Case and this is (sadly) the best, the first was with an Xbox 360 case that had what other Amazon patrons have referred to as "a bulge", a black flip-top replacement for a fat PS2, which did not fit at all, and now this. The first 2 both had the problem of the plastic in some way, shape, or form not being uniform and or at complete right angles, and this was no exception, the front of the bottom part of the case is ever so slightly angled down, so if you run your hand under the controller port (where the PS2 is supposed to be flat) you can feel it sticking down, and there is nothing I can do about that, I tried many different ways to get it to work, but it was manufactured that way and that's how it is going to stay.Thankfully, again, it is not the end of the world, and in reality is the only part of this whole situation that "really" bothered me, but it's still extremely lame. All in all, I am satisfied with the case, as others have stated in other reviews, it looks great from a far, there is no obstruction on any of the parts that matter, and the person it was for loved it.But I'll end on a cautionary note, you are buying third market replacements, and in the 12 years I've been modding / replacing consoles, especially with the PS2 generation, they are incredibly cheap, so expect at least one thing not to be perfect.
