Incredibly valuable!
I would say I'm a fairly advanced artist. I love to draw and I've been doing so since I was 5 years old.I draw in all types of medium from paint to pastel to of course colored pencil and pencil/charcoal. Pencil being my favorite!Breaking down how to create textures has improved my work in so many ways!Giving me better tools as to what grade of pencils to use to create various textures. Lights N darks....etc.You will not be disappointed at all!!I refer to this book constantly. This book helped me to bring the subject matter to life with simple techniques. This was a simple drawing I did of a lion.I did a similar piece a few years back and the 2 are very different. This lion I currently created (the 1 that takes up the word page) it looks like he's staring at you or that he's so real you could almost feel the texture of his fur and mane. This helps to give your subject matter depth and life.If you are already a fairly advanced artist and are looking to fine tune your own skills... Get. This. Book!

Great book! Wealth of knowledge here
Wealth of information here. Covers a lot. Highly recommend for anyone looking to understand shading and textures. I'm retired and getting back into drawing and this book is great! Also there are great you tube videos on drawing and shading.

Art Intelligence
I've been into the arts of drawing, paints, inks, and more now for going on 3 years. I do enjoy learning & I do bits here & there but I'm certai ly no artist, right now I'm more of a collector of all things necessary to learn so I have many books, videos, both Online and others I have purchased as well as a number of great artists I follow on YouTube, FB, and Instagram,. Everyone's different and have many different ideals. And as soon as I find my Bob Ross Complete teaching kit - Ill be ready to start. 😉

Glad I bought this...
Awesome book if you want to teach yourself or just review some basics, in case it's been a while (my situation). Having a spiral edition is useful as I can lay it flat or flip it over to the one page I need. The illustrations are excellent and instructions easy to comprehend.

101 Textures In Graphite & Charcoal is a great learning book
It's a wonderful book to use their step-by-step examples. This is a "how to" book and will guide you so you can follow each step. Since I cannot draw, it still does no preclude me from tracing the diagram and applying the techniques. Great for beginner's! You will learn much. Highly recommend.

A Fast Food version of drawing techniques
The pictures are too small, each about half the size of a business card. There are 4 pictures per "texture" being shown in step by step fashion. One or two sentences to tell you to use an HB, 2B pencil, blend w/a stump or use circular strokes, etc. Very minimalistic.

Excellent book shows to how-to create graphite textures to apply to your own drawings - or just for fun
This is an excellent book. If like me you like drawing a box and filling it with a mini drawing or segment then you will love these textures. About 75% are pencil and 25% pastel. Each page takes a texture like human hair, tree bark or water and shows a how-to in 4 boxes. The first box is usually the most helpful laying down the structure and then there is progressive finishing. I'm quite slow at the final detail stage but I have had some excellent results by following th steps and learning the techniques rather than copying the examples line for line.My only real criticisms are that the book is quite small at under A4 in size so the examples are also small, and that the examples could be ordered by difficulty. Rain drops for example are right at the end and human hair near the front. A minor niggle for what is an excellent book.

Great for budding artists.
Really enjoy trying all the various art projects in this book. Each one is explained in a series of four pictures, with accompanying explanations, including the correct pencil to use. I was particularly pleased with the project for drawing a dog’s nose. Highly recommended.

An amazing little book
What an amazing little book! It is full of simple clear information on how to create a wide range of textures. As soon as I got it, I sat down and drew a cwine glass, an apple, a pear and some cobble stones - all in just a few minutes! I showed this book to my art teacher, who immediately borrowed it - I think she will probably buy one of her own. I recommend it!

101 Textures
This is a great little reference book for doing different textures, i found a few hiccups in regard to some of the images which were upside down to the rest of images, which threw me a bit. Hence the 3 stars. Yes i would recommend this book but get the images sorted.

Lots of ideas
Great book, lots of ideas to try out, would recommend to beginners or experienced artists as I have been drawing thirty plus years and I have learnt things from it.
