Set a goal and let this count your steps.
The SMARTFLY arrived well packaged and included a belt clip, lanyard, instructions, and an extra battery. The extra battery was a nice little bonus that I wasn't expecting to find in the package. It's one of those CR2032 batteries, which are easy enough to find in the big box stores, but it was still nice that an extra one was included. The device itself is very lightweight and when you slide it into the belt clip, you can't even tell your wearing it. I also liked that it tells the time as well. I one of those last few people on Earth who actually wear a wrist watch and I don't have my phone permanently attached to my body. My watch died, so over the past few days, this thing has been my source for time. Setting the device up, however, left some questions. Following the instructions, I correctly set the time, weight, and target steps. I was also able to set the device so that it reads in inches and the stride calculations.Walking around the house, I would go for about 30 steps and check to see how well the device was doing. It was accurate within 1 to 2 steps. I did this several times with various amounts of steps and it remained consistent throughout the test. I reset everything and put it on for work the next day. Throughout the day at work, I would randomly check the device, take 10-30 steps and check for accuracy again. I would say that I was pretty pleased with how it functioned. Using the "mode" button, I was also able to see the estimated calories burned and the progress to my goal (which I set to 10,000 steps). I ended up that day with nearly 8000 steps (6am-10:30pm).The device will automatically shut itself off after a few minutes of inactivity and will resume again once movement is detected. It basically begins to pick up right where it left off. I also noticed that it doesn't always actively count each step as you are watching the screen. For example, you might take 10 steps and you won't see it count each step on the screen, but when you stop...it will register 10 steps. It does seem reasonably accurate, and for this I was pretty pleased with it's performance. The cost of the device seems to be pretty good compared to others like it and it certainly is interesting in knowing how many steps you take for certain activities. I'll be interested in knowing the steps taken in future hiking excursions when we go camping. The device was provided to me for an honest review and "I like it" (4 stars). It appears to be relatively accurate within 1 to 2 steps and I appreciate the belt clip, lanyard, and extra battery. I was able to setup the basic functions that I needed to get it working and for my test it worked out well.

Excellent pedometer...but 6 month lifetime?
Yet another update (as of 11/16). About 2 months ago when changing the battery, I noticed that the prongs which hold the battery in place on the back side of the battery were barely touching it. I gently bent them downward a bit more and haven't had the turning off problem since. I should add that I contacted the company about this after my last review update and while they were quick to respond, they didn't know what the problem might be. I am still very happy with this overall.Ok, so I have to update this review from 5 stars to 4 stars and downgrade it. I bought the pedometer about 6 months ago, and for the first 3 months it was great. But, over time it has developed the very annoying habit of resetting at random times when the button is NOT pressed. This seems to happen often when it is being open or closed. I have actually seen it happen. There is no indication that the battery is running low, so I assume the battery is loose or the circuitry controlling the button isn't great. So, on the one hand, it's still great for reasons listed below, but and it was cheap so even if I have to get a new one every 6 months, it's not the end of the world, but still very annoying. My original review is below...This simple pedometer is an excellent value for your money. It counts your steps accurately and fits in your pocket or clips to your pants or belt loop. I personally tested it on a treadmill by walking short distances while counting my steps. I would say it's accurate to within 3 - 5 steps. I like that it just counts your steps - other pedometers which record distance or calories burned are making a lot of estimation (and they have been called out for this). I would definitely buy again or recommend.

highly recommend.
it is really convenient to use and also helps me reduce sitting time efficiently. usually after dinner I will sit for a while before going to work-out but after using this I will start slow walking around the house, doing some small chores, or go window shopping. I also started to park far from the office and that usually adds 20-min walk and roughly 2500 steps per day. That is about 80 calories -100 calories per day. Over a month, it is about 5000-6000 calories. Every 3000 calories is a pound of weight. So, just saying, small things do have effects. highly recommend.

Love it!
Awesome little gadget!! It seems to be very accurate. When you first start walking, it takes a few steps to start up; however, it does not miss those steps. They do get added in. It resets itself at night, which is nice and its lightweight. The clip is sturdy and I like how it measures distances and keeps track of days behind. Nice little tool to have while on an exercise plan.

Confusing device
Way too many options. Some days it works great, other days it gets itself onto a different mode and I can't tell if it's tracking what it is supposed to be trackingood

I don't find this product easy to operate at all
I don't find this product easy to operate at all. it does have nice clear digits but if you are not used to these types of products I would not suggest it. I do have another one but I just wanted a newer one. i'll stick with the old one. at least I can use it

Pedometer
This unit works as advertised. And it is very lightweight and fits nicely in your pocket. Easy to read the data provided.

Not worth it
Several problems with this. Accuracy is non-existent. I measured and input my stride, put this in my pocket and walked around counting each step. When I got to 100, the pedometer said I'd walked 203 steps. It didn't come with a belt clip as advertised. The manual was laughable -- it said to press Mode when it meant Reset. You can't change from metric to English and I am not fluent in metric. Am returning it today.
